Pineapple green cheeked conure
Hello! I am brand new to the bird world! I have a pineapple green cheek that is 5 months old named Sam. I did SSOO much research before we purchased a bird. I wanted to make sure I could give it a good home and wanted a bird that would fit in with our family. I however had NO idea how wonderful it would be to own a bird! I love it! I had no idea how big of personalities they had and how loving they are! We have had Sam for 2 months now and he very quickly became part of our family and part of our daily routines. The saying " you eat like a bird" has a whole new meaning to me! They eat a lot!

They waste more than they eat.... at least mine do. They are like blenders without lids. They certainly do grow on you quickly, two weeks after I got my Grey we were saying how we could remember what it was like before we got him.

Welcome to the forum! I've been fascinated with birds since I was quite young so once I was old enough I purchased my first bird and it was love at first sight. My partner never owned a bird until I came in the picture and they grew on my partner big time.

Ozzie my alexandrine parakeet had gotten into the kitchen from he's cage and then somehow opened a bag of popcorn. And start eating (I was watching a movie), and ended up eating about 1/4 to 1/2 of the bag. i found popcorn EVERYWHERE in the living room. He's a very naughty boy....

Welcome to the forum Tadkins913! My little sun conure has a huge personality like your Sam. He is very loving and affectionate, but lets it be known exactly what he wants. And if I don't comply, he lets me know. Chiquita stays out of his cage except to sleep at night. When he is ready for bed, he is eager to go inside his cage. I think everybody develops routines with their birds. The bird and the owner usually learns an acceptable behaviors if the bird is handled enough. I used to take Chiquita over the road, long haul in a tractor trailer and he adapted to that lifestyle with no problem. They are marvelous creatures. And as the years of gone by, I have just grown closer and closer to Chiquita. Best wishes to you and Sam! :)

Welcome
Nothing in life beats having bird around 24/7
The joy and happines they bring each day, we can never thank them enough for just being birds.
