Budgie, "Julie"
I wrote this huge rant on budgies and how underrated they were and wendy posted this BEAUTIFUL quote, so i made a siggie out of it. Pugtato, thanks for making me my previous siggie i am really grateful! I made a poster out of it, laminated it and hung it over my budgie's aviary and cage. I still tear up when i read this.

Can't agree more to that. I mentioned previously that my 'best bird' was my little blue budgie Wonsy.

Cuddles with Brucie. (Wonsy was his first mate, this was their first day meeting.)

She had a heart of gold, a personality to match that of a giant macaw, she was cheeky and happy and wormed her way into everyones heart. Sure she only cost me £10, but I'd pay a hundred times that, and then some if I could get my girl back. She died from strokes and with no avian vet or mode of transport there was nothing I could do for her.

She left big boots to fill thats for sure. She was my first real companion bird (I'd had budgie's before but they wern't mine/wasn't tame.) and she was the best thing that ever happened to me. She spurned on my love for birds, she taught me patience with animals, she taught me to read behaviour, she taught me about unconditional love.

I honestly regret not getting a thousand more pictures of her, I thought I'd have her longer. :(

You're right Wings. Some may me small and cheap, but they really are priceless when it comes down to what actually matters.

I'm really tearing up now , :( . I HATE it when my parents act as if its a decoration and tell me to move it to the dining room because " it looks better ." I'm telling you of that was a macaw , too , or even a conure I could put it WHEREVER I like .

do your parents support taking them to the vet? a lot of peoples parents wouldn't take a budgie to the vet. :(

They knew I would have done anything for Wonsy (and now with my pets now, they would drive me to the moon and back if they could for my guys.) and they supported that. If Wonsy had been theirs, they probably wouldn't have bothered but we did TRY and find a vet nearby. My last 'exotic' vet doesn't do out of hours so it would have just been like seeing a normal vet. She wouldn't have made the journey either... :(

I now know there are things a vet can do for strokes in birds. My parents are in a different town to me now but I have a good friend who I met on the day Merlin was stuck in a tree who is basically my ride for vet visits :). He's lovely and I appreciate him very much. He drove me and my partner to numerous vet visits with our recently passed rabbit. He is also pretty much my only way of getting to my Avian Vet as public transport makes it near on impossible! My dad travels over sometimes too to get him there but now my friend has kinda taken that role since he's in the same town. :)

We also know we can get a taxi to the vets (£20 each way, eek!) which is reassuring. I wish we could drive!

:) thanks i was just kind of wondering of the way you worded your previous post. YOu are a great bird owner :)

I saw Wendy post it a while back and fell in love with it too.

I wanted to print it and put it on my bird room door, but when my husband printed it, it turned out blurry, not sure why, he works for a huge computer company and has amazing printers.
I'll ask him to try again :)

They would take me , as long as I payed for it . It was difficult taking for check ups because to them if he wasn't on the edge of dying they would say it was a waste of money
