Yellow-sided GCC - Cuzco | Cin. pearl pied tiel - Tilli
Some of you may know that I've had a long and pretty crazy journey working on getting my yellow-sided greencheek home. (See this thread for details: http://www.parrotforums.com/questions-answers/42624-not-splinting-okay.html)

After a harrowing ride to the airport, I waited in the lobby for Cuzco to arrive.

Frustratingly, I was told that I could wait by the counter and they'd tell me when he got there. So I waited... for an hour and a half. I was really worried at that time and finally asked what was up. Wish I'd done that sooner!! He was in the back room and no one bothered to say anything!

But, now he's home safe!!

And WOW is he ever friendly! He's not at all tired from his journey. He just wants to snuggle deeply into my hair, get petted (even under his little wings), and grind his beak happily.

Training can start soon. For this short time, it's all about making him feel safe and loved. <3

Yay! Congrats! He's adorable!

I am so thrilled for you both! How is his leg?

I'm not honestly 100% sure which leg was even injured, though I am fairly sure it's the left. He gets by fine! When he walks I kind of notice it, but it doesn't seem to bother him any!

That is wonderful news! I am so glad you emailed the breeder again and got everything worked out and finally have your baby home with you:)

He is beautiful!! If you don't tell him he has a leg issue, he'll never know it :)

Very happy he ended up with you safe and ready to cuddle. Keep us posted!

He is beautiful. So many colours too.

Congratulations! I'm glad you're finally united with your much anticipated baby and that all is wonderfully well! He looks incredibly content cuddling into your hair, and it's so lovely that he warmed up so quickly even after the plane ride. It does instil more confidence in the breeder of choice, that's for sure :)

I hope for many wonderful days and experiences to come for you and your cutie Cuzco!

I LOVE your thread heading!! Ever since my son and I saw that movie, we use that "boom baby!" too ;)

Cuzco is too precious!

He's gorgeous! And he looks like he'll be just fine! :D

After having to wait 24 hrs, an hour and a half long wait isn't that long at all.... annoying that the airport employees did that to you, but at least he's fine! :)

Thanks, everybody!! It sure is a relief to have this story at a happy end. Now the real adventure begins - training and learning to live with the feisty little guy.

I couldn't resist! :p It's a good name for a sassy South American bird already...
And I played the opening song from that movie for Cuzco while he was sitting on my shoulder. He's such an unstoppable force already. He REALLY wants to sit on shoulders and heads at the moment. I'm hoping I can train him to accept scratches while sitting on my knee. That was always such a convenient thing for my cockatiel.

He also wasted NO time getting comfortable enough to conure-screech his displeasure at the lights being turned off. What an unpleasant sound! And now we have a neighbor next door. He ended up going back in his carrier to sleep in the nice dark restroom, away from the shared wall. He calmed down much easier there. I may use that as a sleeping cage for a while.

I weighed him this morning and he came in around 64 grams. I haven't caught him eating much, so I'll be keeping an eye on that, making sure he's getting enough food. The only thing I really saw him eat last night were seeds, which I was feeding to him one by one (clicking as I did so, to start getting the click=treat association started).

I do occasionally see him with one of his back toes forward on the "bad" leg. But other than that and the clunky walk, I think he seems alright. Hopefully in the long run he'll heal up perfectly normal, and even if not... well, he's totally mobile, so no problems there. I don't mind him having a limp or whatever if he doesn't mind!

His favorite spot seems to be on the little rope/wood bridge in the corner. I saw him start throttling the foraging cup toy up there this morning. Hopefully he'll discover the treats in there.

My only regret is forgetting to ask if she would mind not clipping his wings. I really think he'd be having an easier time with that big cage now if he still could fly. :( I meant to ask about it, but forgot in the midst of the chaos this week (I let a stray cat give birth in my apartment because her water broke on the landing, and spent the next few days caring for them and finding a place for them to go - good news is that they're at a foster home through the humane society, are FIV negative, and someone who seems to be the original owner has showed up. Looks like she just escaped a few days ago).

But yeaah... nothing to do about it now, I guess. Except kick myself for it!

Two days later, he's getting bolder, eating well, and is still just such a cutie. I love the little croaky noises they make! But holy cow, the screeches are unreal.

Today he saw his reflection in the bathroom mirror and flew over to check out the other bird. Hope he's not missing his siblings too much!

I'm trying to give him time to settle in, but he scuttles around and begs to be taken out. I only take him out when he's NOT begging, but still... he definitely just wants to be with us. He's sitting on my boyfriend's lap right now, beak tucked under a wing, just chilling while we play videogames and check emails and such.

What a joy. Friends are coming by today to meet him and play some card/board games, so he'll get to meet some more people. I don't think it'll likely phase him much at all. :)

Here's another pic of the cute little guy and HERE is an album of photos: http://imgur.com/a/899t1
