Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(
And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
.. I don't understand this guy. We have now raised his house off the floor and put it on a table that now makes him eye level with us,and it seems to be working! Before, when I tried to get him to step up from his roof,he'd run around it,then firmly grab the bars and would NOT budge I would have to throw a towel over him and gently lift him up to release his hold.
He became accustomed to the procedure, but would still hiss at me but not bite.
Now,all we have to do is show our hand or arm and he readily jumps/hops right on! such a good little cockatoo man
We have been giving him more "out" time also. It seems to be helping with his screaming. He doesn't screech TOO MUCH now when he is out,but still does when in his house.
But he thinks he is a Chippendale Bird! :11: He seems to only strip when he is out and on my shoulder. Arleen and I can be playing cribbage and he will sit on my shoulder and just yoink yoink yoink on his clothes. the kitchen floor is covered with his garments, but he DOESN'T do this when he is in his house...you'd think it would be the other way around.
He looked bad when he first came here, then turned into a handsome little Goffin, but now he looks terrible again.
I am having second, and third, and fourth thoughts of rehoming the little beady-eyed monster now. He CAN be sooo sweet. The other day he was sitting on my chest, under my chin, while he GENTLY preened my beard, then moved to my shoulder and rubbed his soft, warm little face against my cheek, all the while gently beaking me and giving me gentle kissy's..I could hear him going kissykissykissy
BUT he still has his jeckyl/hyde 'too'd and will chomp on us at any time for no reason, which makes me and Arleen very nervous and wary of him.
Sighhhhhh...
