Bonding with so in to buy golden conure. Not sure if good or bad help

I am going to rain on the parade a bit ... (sorry)

Birds have rejected me and others have accepted me (and that is okay- the choice should as far as possible be mutual)- and if this baby is making you feeling rejected already ... a parrot should bring joy and a feeling of companionship - if at all possible.

I am not sure (esp. if this is your first bird!) you should be starting out on an uphill struggle for the birds affections when there are so many other options of "love at first sight".

Yes, of course you can win over almost any bird (though we also have plenty of exceptions here, for one reason or another) but it helps if you already have parrot-experience and know how-to.
(Not saying you should not be able to do this, we are all here for you etc. and you obvioulsy did a lot of prepwork already.)
But I am a great supporter of intuition/ gutfeeling and if you feel you and this particulair bird are not 'meant for each other' and you can still try again ...
look at other birds as well!

Guys bad news that hopefully turns to good news

Was handling my golden today. Lady comes in an ex breeder. Mentions my bird seems very possibly sick. The same thing I was freaking out about earlier.

Symptoms:
1. always fluffed up (not just neck and head whole body though). None of the other goldens who are the same age there exhibit that symptom.
2. Posture is almost completely horizontal.
3. Excessive squaking no matter even if I give him the cuddling he wants.
4. Lethargic unless you are in the act of taking him out. Then he shows some pep but immediately goes back to lethargic.
5. No longer flaps his wings upon being taken out like he was 2 weeks ago.
6. Falling asleep more often.
7. Losing weight rapidly, keep bone is pointy and sticking out now, despite hand feeding him more formula now.
8. No matter what never acknowledges his toys unlike the other 5 his age. He just stares into space 95 percent of the time.

I brought it up and was firm with the store owner. I want him checked. His poop looks fine.

What tests based in this should he get? More than jist a bacteria poop check? What else? I don't care what it costs, the owner has to pay for it. Please help as I will be requesting the tests you knowledgeable people recommend.
