i am getting a quaker as you may know. my breeder sells greens, blues, pallid blue and fallows. i am getting either the green or pallid blue. but i heard that sometimes the blues are more skittish and passive than greens. and sometimes smaller but i dont care about size. and i know all birds are different. i would like him/her to be a BIT "sassy" and have a BIT of aditude but not to much that it cant be handled. i also heard that greens talk a lot more with i would like. so with has a more outgoing personality and a better speaking ability if there is any difference between the two. i am NOT buying just bases on those things. i WILL buy the one that seems to like me the most. but is one sounds better i will look more at those.

me and my wife have this debate all the time only for different reasons. I believe green is the absolute most beautiful color on a parrot and blue ones look like they are sick or something.
my wife feels blue parrots are by far the best looking parrots. but any woman who thinks im a catch, obviously has very poor taste.

I have a blue Quaker. I think he's a very handsome fellow, but obviously I'm biased. I don't think you can really judge what the bird's personality is going to be like based on color though. My blue guy IS smaller than a typical green Quaker, but he talks up a storm, isn't skittish at all, and "passive"... yeah right. Quakers are definitely "sassy".

I think instead of choosing which color, you should go see all the babies the breeder has. You'll know which one is for you.

that is what i planned to do. but based on looks i like the blue a LITTLE better but i like both.

Based on looks alone, I like the blues better too ;) I'm sure you'll love whichever one you end up with, they're so fun.

I had my heart set on a blue quaker after seeing one at pet supermaket, However we ended up going to a little mom and pop pet store in port charolete fla and fell totally in love with a hand fed hand tame little 6 month old green quaker and home he came and he and I have been bonded since I bought him home. No regrets I adore him and he has also bonded to hubby. Go with which ever bird you fall in love with. Alison and sweetie pie:D

I bred Quakers for 15 yrs. :) They are great little birds. They do tend to be cage aggressive so make sure you are prepared for that. Positive reinforcement is the way to go.
As far as colors, I will tell you this, I had an avian vet that was one of the tops in his field. He did many studies for a very long on Quaker mutations. He wrote an article for the avian vet association. He determined that blue Quakers lived up to 6 yrs less then normal greens. I do not know where to access this article or I would definitely link it here. He sadly, has since passed away tragically last year.

Generally, there seem to be few differences between the standard green Quakers and the color mutations. Each parrot has his/her own unique personality and character, but typically, the blue QPs are much the same as the green ones. No predictable differences in behavior, noise level or talking ability. Blue QPs often are slightly smaller than green ones, and there is some question that their lifespan may be shorter; as I understand it, that issue is being studied in more depth.
