Blue Headed Pionus
Thought you guys might enjoy a couple pictures of 'Mirri' (meer-ee), my resuced blue headed pionus. She's about ten years old and an absolute sweetheart. I was expecting her to be somewhat reticent and sad about moving here but she's adjusted remarkably well and is a total cuddle-bug.

Great Pics, and I personally believe that those Pis are some of the most under appreciated parrots out there ... they are great birds but just aren't in the mix when it comes to common breeds that are just ever looked at ...

I love the blue heads, but I think I love the BRONZE WINGS more (there colors are just so amazing) and BOTH are wonderful, loving companions ....

Congrats on the rescue as well ... that's a wonderful thing that you have done!

Beautiful pi! I'm wanting one so bad and this just makes it worse. Enjoy your pi!

Thank you so much, everyone! I can't get over what a sweetheart this bird is. She's quiet, not hugely dependant, and adjusted incredibly well to her new situation. Sure, pi's don't talk but I really don't think that detracts from them as a species at all. She makes lots of lovely noises and is coming out with more and more as she becomes more comfortable with being here. Definitely a great starter bird and definitely easy to fall in love with!!

I just saw the pictures of your Pionus. I'm a new member with a blue head pionus and am having a problem with his plucking. You mentioned you rescued her - did she happen to have any feather problems? Just curious. I recently ordered a refeathering kit for my Pionus, Petey, that was recommended by another member and hope it helps. Your bird is beautiful and I'm so hopeful that Petey looks like that someday!
