hey everyone im new here but i always read what other people post, my question is can i put two cackatiles with my amazon blue fronted perrot (lola) she has a big cage 5x5x5 , i want to make sure they are not going to hurt each other, thank u :green2:

Have they ever had supervised time together?

I wouldn't just put the tiel's in with your Amazon and see what happens. I would definitely introduce them outside of their cages many times and see how well they interact with each other before letting them share a habitat.

Good Luck,

Toni

I would not put them together for a couple of reasons. When birds live together you will usually lose pet quality. They bond with each other and take twice the work to keep tame. Same goes with the two tiels. When birds r youngest is not a big deal but as they start to get older if they are still together they will start to test you. the second reason is they could fight. I have read stories where a bonded pair of birds that have lived together a long time can start fighting for no reason and one can even kill the other. Even in the same species. Some time together in a neutral area, play gym or your lap is fine just dont let them stay together so much that they start to bond strongly.

We have 3 birds, 2 tiels and conure and each of them have their own cage. We let them all out together for supervised play time, their cages are all in sight of each other, so they can talk and chirp, mimic each other preening and what not...but I prefer them all in their own cages for the reason mentioned above...I don't want to loose the "pet" quality of our birds.

I think we've found a very happy balance with our birds and I have no desire to cage them all together, even though, they'd probably be just fine.

That blue front will probably kill or hurt those teils. My blue front loves to sneak up on my ringneck and grab his tail, pull hard, and then my ringneck screams. I wouldn't do it.

I my opinion amazons are way too territorial . Bad plan. If you introducted a young zon to the tiels in a nuetral setting(cage) maybe,it might work, but throwing your tiels into your zons cage, i don't think is going to work out.

Amazons hate other species of parrot unless raised with.
Your zon will kill those poor tiels. I wouldn even trust em out and about together.
It could end bad. Very. I'd be safe and keep em separated
jus my 2 cent.

My amazon and grey have just met and are doing well together. They share space and don't really have a problem.

I wouldn't house your Cockatiels together with an Amazon. Amazons, especially Bluefronts are known to be a might cage aggressive and have hormonal issues. You might come back one day and find your Cockatiels DEAD.

Congratulations. You a lucky one with a lesser temperamental zon.
Iv delt and deal with many. All the zons have a isolated section due to the fact there to stress around others. Essp toos.
And honestly Greys have been the most adaptive species iv noticed to be around zons. Maybe they resemble similarity and amazons think there amazons as well. Just bluntly colored ones. But Tiels are small. This could go horribly wrong.

Well my zon was the only parrot for many years, then I got my ringneck. They share space and do fine as well, Bean just has to grab that long tail sometimes. I have also delt with a lot of zons... All the ones I know seem to share space outside of cages just fine. But put in a cage with a smaller parrot... Yes, bad idea.

Hmm. I work around amazons. Usally after 5 years. We have to give em solo out to play time. Sure after time and ones been around a while they adapt. But never the less this perch or this branch or dish is there's and one to dare get near it turn bad to ugly.
Unless babies we have to work with em separately. But l are different

I'd do supervised play-time with you amazon. An amazon with teils is unpredictable. Amazons, like a lot of other birds, are agressinve towards other birds, and they are territorial.
