Blue and Gold Smell

All parrots seem to smell nice when their healthy. I wonder if it's a defence mechanism, say smelling like fruit rather then a bird to stop predators tracking them?

For the record, Alex smells kind of earthy and fruity at the same time. Like that awesome smell you get after a thunderstorm mixed with fruit. A friend of mine says he reminds her of the smell of the rainforest.

yea vincent is the same when he comes in from outside and after baths lovey scent

its part of their charm, you know, the one that rewires us to the point where the bird says jump and we do it. (fully believe they have ecco location too, just cant prove it)

I dont own a bird but I know what they mean when they scream about something and... automaticly do whatever they need me to do. (I found that out the last time I did a water change for the Moluccan Cockatoo we had at the shelter, I wasent looking where I put the water dish and he screamed at me, I looked at him and said "What?!! Im sorry!" then put it back in the right place, he then screamed at me again and I closed the door to his cage, telling him again.. I was sorry, he fluffed the feathers on his face and settled back to give me a glare)

I did think he smelled good after the first day, even as dirty as he was. like.. mangos, or exotic flowers. (he did let me get close enough to give him a kiss without ripping my lips off)

ive always wondered why zoee has a smell my other birds do not have.i wondered if it could b her food??prob not but still wondered. it seems to be more when she is stressed r playing hard. and my grey..she has no smell..thanks for the thread. i enjoyed reading it:blue1::white1::whiteblue::greenyellow:

My blue and gold (Jamie, my precious baby) :blue1: smells vaguely like cabbage soup, however, my green cheek conure, particularly while on Harrison's pellets, smelled strongly of pancakes.
