Green Cheek Conure (yellow sided)
Curious if anyone has any ideas or advice. My GCC (3 mos old) has been a real sweetheart and adjusted to her new home with us very well. She almost immediately it seemed bonded with my husband on week one, preening him and snuggling with him. Shortly after, she decided the rest of us were okay too. :) She does spend most of her time with me as I am home during the day with her but when my husband comes home, she usually flies to him to be with him. However, the last week or so, she has started biting him almost as soon as she is with him and not just nipping but biting hard. She very rarely does this with me, just some minor nipping, but with him it is different. What is weird is that she even does it when she goes to him, not just when he goes to her and asks her to step up. Any idea what could be the cause for this sudden change in behavior and any advice on how to curb it?

Green cheeks are like that. A few days they will be terrors then they return to their sweet disposition.....they alternate...kind of like bipolar. Expect them to be nippy and watch their body language. You can usually tell when they are not wanting to be touched or what is setting them off. I have been trying to introduce a new Sun Conure....he flew into the room where Forrest was and Forrest was going to get him. I got Forrest on my finger and he went around my neck to get to the Sun on my other finger. I had to take a horiffic bite from Forrrest on the finger to keep him away. Really bad bites are unusual but pretty hard bites can be expected. I usually just put him in his cage a few minutes to calm him down. If he loves your husband he is probably getting over excited and over stimulated when he comes home and can't wait to see him.......that can cause them to get nippy or when they are tired.
