Around this time of the year, I like to walk around the swap to buy unusual produce for my self and my fids. Im use to seeing hundreds of parakeets. On this trip, I saw the parakeet guy with his usual terrified keets and a CAG baby. The guy said he/she was just weaned and ate food thoughout the day with no problem. I felt so sorry for this poor baby. It was hot (100++) and he/she held her wing out while people poked at her. There were so many kids :( They were loud and trying to grab her. I tried to tell the man something but he brushed me off and just kept saying $1300 when I suggested moving her to a cooler spot & away from the crowed. She/he was beautiful I asked to take her out in hopes to move away from the people for awhile. She was so scared and small framed but seemed healthy. She was a soft siver grey with the most beautiful reddish feathers along her belly and legs.
Long story short I gave the man my info and a deposit and asked him to put her away out of the sun and far away from the crazy poking people. I pick her up Wed. and will immediatly take her to her avian vet appt.
I'm so excited :) I will post pics when I get her.

Congrats on the new baby. Now the hard part of waiting to bring her home lol. I am glad we don't have many bird shows or swap meets in my area or i would end up with another.

I'm so happy that you are going to take her! Is she a red factor cag then since she has the red feathers on her other than her tail? I too would love to hear what you are going to name her! Pictures??

Not sure on the name yet. I'll have to watch her settle in and play :) She is so beautiful. I think she is a red factor.... I have never seen one other than a pic online. She has light reddish pink feathers on her belly and all along her legs. Its not red like the tail but soft, light, and kinda rosey. Her grey is very light not like other CAG I've seen. I just bought her cage, purches, toys, and swings to go with it. I'm so excited!!!!
I need more foraging toys :)

Congrats.

However, you know now that you can never go back right? Because this uncaring person now knows that he can sell a Grey for $1300; he's going to get another one and do the same thing with that one and you know it's prob going to break your heart even more when you see another one sitting in a small cage, in the sun, and the same people poking that one.

Im so glad you are taking that poor lil one. It will be so much mroe happy with you. Congrats on the new upcomign addition =)

Thanks to all :)
Im excited and very nervous. This will be my first baby. All my other fids were well over 5 when I got them. Im so afraid Im going to mess up. I keep buying toys and puzzles. :) what if I bore her? Or worst spoil her rotten :)

Re: TakRail, I know. That crossed my mind as I was walking away from his stand :( I think I just need to add that place to my list of banned things, so I stay out of trouble. I just like the exotic produce that can only be found there. I might have to send friends and family in my place.
