Taylor - Black capped Conure (RIP 3.14.15 - miss you every day little "Girlie")
Went to visit "Birdie" again today!

Gosh, what a beautiful baby!!!! :smile015: You just wait how quickly he'll (or she'll) realize you are coming for him/her. :D This is so awesome, and you getting to know each other so well now, will make it so much easier for him once you bring him home.

So...when are you going again? :54: Tomorrow? Sunday??

What a sweet and kind face "Birdie" has! How old is he/she? And does that store allow for fledging flights?

Oh my...so cute..just want to give your birdie kisses!!!!

Wendy - oh yes, we are going to visit again on Sunday FOR SURE! We would go tomorrow but we are having my son's birthday party. I'm going to go as often as possible so that "Birdie" will feel good with me before he even comes home!

Weezerj - I'm not exactly sure when Birdie is coming home. They manager is thinking he needs at least 4 more weeks.

Anansi - I asked them to give me his exact hatch date today, but they got busy and forgot to look it up before we left. They think he is about 7 weeks old. I'm not a fan of estimates so I WILL be getting the exact date! One drawback to finding our baby at a bird store (vs. a breeder) is that they don't allow the birds to fledge. I am very disappointed about this and it makes me feel a little negligent as his mommy. But, there is nothing I can do. If I don't let him be clipped, he won't get any out of cage time once he is able to fly. Just one of a few drawbacks to finding my baby at a store rather than through a small breeder.

As soon as Birdie comes home, I will let his feathers grow out and will work with him to help him become a strong, confident flyer. I participated in a webinar with Barbara Heidenreich on Tuesday evening called "Flight Training for Companion Parrots". She spent quite a bit of time talking about how to work with a bird that wasn't allowed to fledge and how to help these birds become good fliers. At the time of the webinar, I was feeling slightly smug because I wan't EVER going to get a bird that wasn't allowed to fledge. I am VERY glad I was a part of the webinar now!

I think it is awesome that you are getting to spend time with that precious baby!
I felt this was meant to be after your first post about Birdie, and now after reading about the webinar you participated in, I am sure of it:) I am so excited for you!!!
And Happy Birthday to your son as well:)

Actually, you don't necessarily have to clip. I had the same exact situation with Bixby, so I just bought a harness and put it on him every time I went to visit him. Just another option.

He is so darn cute! I am so very happy for you!! Yay!!! :D
