Bird Vet???

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the advice.
Petrie is still unable to fly, but does attempt too but falls to the ground.
I have had Petrie for a few years now and there have been no eggs so I assumed P was male.
I have not brought P to a vet yet due to the holiday and i have decided to bring P to MSPCA Angell Memorial. They have a vet names Brendan Noonan who specializes in birds, he was an intern to Dr. K.
Dr. Susan Kelleher is a vet from Florida who had her own show called Dr. K's Exotic Aminal ER- i highly recommend watching this show.

I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again.

Come back. Tell us how it went. We all learn from each other.

I'm glad you came back and will keep us updated...However, I also hope that you don't wait too long to get your bird to a vet, as what you are describing going on sounds like it may be very serious.

I'm sure that you know this already, but just to be sure...All birds possess a natural, innate instinct to completely hide all outward signs of illness, injury, and pain for as long as they possibly can. It's an innate survival-instinct that protects both them and the rest of their flock from predators, and they are extremely good at it. And while it's an asset to birds living in the wild, it's a very large draw-back to birds in captivity, as usually by the time we as people actually see/notice an outward change in appearance and/or behavior in our bird, they have already been sick for quite a long time, often months and months. And in many cases it's too late to help them, even if we take them to a CAV immediately upon noticing that something is wrong...

I don't know if this was already asked in this thread (I didn't see it), but has your bird ever been tested for PBFD or any other, similar congenital diseases? That's a serious concern with what you are describing, and the sooner it is diagnosed, the better chance you have of getting it under control and learning to live with it...Not that I'm saying that is what is going with your bird, obviously I don't know that, I'm just concerned that this really does sound like a very serious issue, and the longer you wait to take him to an Avian Vet, the more serious it may become...always better safe than sorry with birds and their illnesses and injuries, little buggers are amazing at how well they hide pain and illness...they can't really hide their feathers falling out though, thank god...

Positive energy your way, and please keep us updated...

Littleton Animal Hospital is Avian Vet certified and well recommended.
