So Sprinkles went on his first road trip 12 hrs in the truck.

After an hour on the road i opened up his cover so he could see everything. After a few min he started to regurgitate. I freaked out and covered the window side of his cage. He was perfect the rest of thw way. He enjoyed talking to us and making all kinds of fun sounds to the music. He had a great time.

When we got to our destination it was like he had been there all his life. Not at all scared of a new house . He had his dinner with us.

Sprinkles travled better than my bigger dog. I plan on taking sprinkles on more adventures. Maybe even on a plane. I just love this little bird so much.

This is my first time trveling with a parrot. I drove cross country with my first parrot.
Have any of you done much traveling with your parrot? How did it go?

We travel with our rehomed Amazon too and from the family cottage near every weekend. His prior home completed much longer trips from Northern Michigan to the Gulf Coast of Texas (snow birds). So, our Amazon has been a traveler from early on. The fun part is his 'protect' the family stance, keeping his head on swivel watching the sky for danger.

If you haven't traveled by air with a Parrot lately, ensure that you contact the airlines early and follow the requirements of the different States that you will be traveling too and from.

Have fun traveling!

Glad it went well!! Looks like a nice comfortable car travel cage with unobstructed viewing!!

Good job on the seatbelt and parallel to cardoor perch placement! That kind of setup kept my little guys safe the time we were in a car accident.

Sounds like he had a fun time in the car. It's good to know that you can pack him up and go, if the need arises :)

Beau's only about 6 states away from having been in every state of the USA, all by car!

Nice to see it is not all that uncommon for people to travle with birds. Sprinkles will be going cross conutry soon my family lives back east. I think i will look into flying with him next year.

This cage fit great in the truck and the seat belt wrapped around it perfect so i felt he was safe. Its a cheap cage so i zip tied the pannels together for extra suport and it was not falling apart.

We take ours up north to our cabin or camping 4-5 hours each way. They do great and LOVE being with us all day. My scarlet needs breaks to decompress during the day but my blue and gold thrives with travel!

We drive with our two Red Lored Amazons and one Blue and Gold Macaw from New Jersey to Florida.

I believe that our birds thrive and trust us even more because of these adventures.

I recently bought a small vacation/retirement home in Florida so our flock will be making this trip more often and someday, God willing, we will all head down south for good and my birdies will live out their days in paradise, even when I am long gone...

The day after we got Bacca we drove her to our other house. She likes listening to Jazz in the car. A few days later she got her first plane ride. Ever since she's been a regular commuter. We got a Pak-o-bird travel cage for her (we call it her car seat). She's happiest when she can sit up front but if my wife is along she has to ride in the back.

Just got back home. Another 12 hours of driving. Yeah I think Sprinkles LOVES traveling now. He was singing with us it was really funny. Road trip songs with a parrot helping out is a good time. Yeah birds thrive on travel. Well they are birds after all. They can fly and really get around in the wild so it makes sense. Sprinkles loved that we were all together in the truck for HOURS. This was his first time and NOT his last this little guys is going everywhere with me now. I will leave the dogs at home haha.

That is totally how my guys are! Also, I've realized new scary toys magically become fun when they are in the car. Usually they don't survive the trip.

Migratory parrots...

Ivan and I just returned from a 3000 mile trip..5 motels..and met a lot of nice people...with him on my shoulder I met lots of people who would never say Hi...but that's a story foe another time we go out together on a daily basis so I guess 17 days on the road was just more of the same for him
