Bird-safe nonstick cookware?

So, I know that teflon is very dangerous for birds, and when we got Cody my mom gave up her teflon pans. She really misses them though, and we saw on Dr. Oz a few months ago that there is now bird safe, non-stick cookware available? It's not teflon (he was actually saying how harmful teflon was to both people and birds), and he says that this type of pan is safe. Does anyone know what this is? I completely forget what it was?

Here it is and I am still VERY happy with it.

This is new in South Africa and I hope it will be all over the world as well. I LOVE it! It cooks the food evenly and no matter how sticky it just wipes clean without any problems. It is currently still very cheap because it is still new I suppose. They have different size pots, pans and grills. GET IT - YOU'LL LOVE IT.

Thank you so much!! That's awesome! I can't seem to be able to find it in any local stores, so I'm thinking we'll have to order it off of Ebay. Either way, it'll be worth it. My mom gets so angry when she tries to cook breakfast and it won't stop sticking!

Does that look like it would be a good alternative? I just can't find Neoflam anywhere (except Ebay)!

Thanks for the advice. I've never heard of that store though, don't think they are any where around here. Maybe my other local grocery stores have them, I'll have to check if the neoflam doesn't work out.

Im not sure if was exactly the same thing, but they were PTFE and PFOA free, the packaging looks almost identical~

I will definantly have to keep a look out for these name brands! My husband loves to cook, but never really did like teflon. When we brought Wally home, we tossed out the couple that we did have. Now I can cook supper once in awhile and it not stick.

Nope it works MUCH better! Nothing sticks inside or out, it uses much less oil and everything are cooked evenly. I just wipe it clean with a serviette before I wash it, no scraping necessary.

Well I was soooo excited to get the Neoflam and I did use it twice. WELL not to be a kill joy but after talking it over with other bird people and really looking into it and pulling out the Safe Data Sheet for Anion which is the outer layer (where you cook in) we found out that it does release toxic chemicals when heated above 400 degrees Farenheight! Talking with a "Chef" friend of mine, I guess it is very easy to reach that temp while frying!

So I gave it away and now I am very sad . But I can't take a chance. Here is the SDS :

Oh wow, thanks guys! That really stinks. I'm wondering if there are any that are safe? I know Dr. Oz mentioned one that was safe around birds. Unless he meant the Neoflam and was just unaware?

If what you are saying is in fact true then Neoflam will be sued for false advertisement! It is written all over their box and advertised on tv as 100% safe. The product is also all over the world and therefore I can not for one moment think that they can lie and get away with it for such a long time!

Because it is made from natural, non-toxic materials, it is safe for the human body and is environmentally friendly. Therefore it is impossible release harmful chemicals if it is not made from harmful chemicals.

I've searched and searched and I cant find even one site or sentence that claims that this product is harmful at any temperature.

If you look at the box again and read what the layers are(to make the pan) you will see that the outer layer, the non-stick part you cook in is ANION. The SDS for Anion is what I posted.....
Yes it is probably safe for humans (Teflon won't kill you either)........but when heated above 400 degrees, it release harmful chemicals that would be dangerous for the sensitive Parrot/Bird.
The company never wrote or stated the product to be safe for Parrots/Birds so no lawsuit would be expected.......

Maybe what does get released with high temps might not be enough to qualify as harmful to humans......but for our birds it could be fatal.

Well crap, started reading this thread and got all excited. They say 400 deg. doesn't it take 600 deg for Teflon to release?
I work at a Dupont site (we don't make Teflon here) Iwill see if I can find any more info on it.

The company never wrote or stated the product to be safe for Parrots/Birds so no lawsuit would be expected.......

They did however write it big on the box that it is absolutely free of harmful chemicals 100% PFOA & PTFE-free. They also state no toxic fumes emitted while cooking.

To me that is enough for a lawsuit. But heaven protect us that it will never be necessary.
