Bird Room Smell

Clean clean clean.

That’s it. It’s gets smelly when you don’t clean. An air filter/purifier will help, but only so much.

If you're having an unusual problem with strong odor, make sure there's not any place where water has dripped between two surfaces, maybe taking a few seeds along and starting some rot or some spoiling....

(Yeah, that happened to me last month. Took a bunch of moving stuff around to track down the odor, and a bunch more work to get the little area fully fully cleansed.)

Mine doesn't really have a smell (believe me, when my mom visits she would 500% tell me if it did) but I do run 2 really nice air purifiers in there and I use F10 on the cage grate (no paper liner, as she was trying to nest with it by pulling it through the grate lol). Noodles sort of smells when I stick my nose in her feathers, but it's not a bad smell. Her toys sometimes smell like wood...and if she throws food down and gets it wet, that will produce a bit of a smell, but only if you get super close-- I guess if I left it there for a long time, it could smell....

OH- trash---make sure that poopy towels etc in the trash are emptied often--they can start to mold and smell, even if it is just a trash-can for bird junk <-this did happen to me once before, and I couldn't figure it out initially because the can was only half full and the towels on top looked dry etc!

It could be the seeds or food if you don't have those in sealed containers...
It could also be carpet collecting food particles etc-- so a super powerful vacuum with a hepa filter could be useful.

I don't have carpet in my bird room, but I did a few years ago and I used large mats.

You might also just kind of sniff your bird's poop to make sure it doesn't have a scent lol---if it does that could be an issue.

White vinegar and water can help deodorize surfaces too, but don't saturate the air with it with your bird around because even though it's safe for the most part, it can cause irritation.
