Bird hanging behavior

I don't even need to see the entire cage to know I don't like that cage! And if I had a macaw, I'd never house it in a cage like that given a choice! Not to criticize at all, as I myself have 3 birds in cages that I deem as "too small". One is even a "standard sized cage" for the bird that's living in it.. and I hate the thing! Too small for me! Thank you for helping this macaw out! I know it's a work in progress!

Please work on positive reinforcement! Any time he's in his cage and you walk by, drop a special treat into a metal cup in his cage meant just for that! Work on target training through the cage bars. Done right, it's training without getting bitten! ;) If you do get bit, it's because your flesh was within biting range! If your flesh doesn't get within striking distance (if he bites through cage bars) then he can't bite! There's bars protecting you from him!

I also knew a macaw that did that behavior.... I took it as a form of "begging".... i.e. she no longer wanted to be where she was at and wanted to be moved. (click to view)
