Parrots
Hahn's macaw, RIP George, Jenday Conure
The San Diego bird store "Bird Crazy" will be closing for good January 15th 2013. The owners health is making him unable to run the store any longer. They are selling everything on hand.

OMG..this is the same store back in 2002 when I was in San Diego getting my Illiger's macaw Diego. I flew out to San Diego and stayed with his breeder for 4 days as we became really good friends. She took me to "Bird Crazy" twice before I went back home and I really enjoyed seeing the type of parrots and birds I have never seen before. I bought some toy parts from that store back then that were not available back home.

This makes me feel really sad. Almost depressed. So many memories of my adventure of getting my Illiger's macaw and now all of them are gone. I have not been able to find my friend for many years, Diego died of a stroke June 2011 and now Bird Crazy is closing for good.

I feel like I have been sucker punched. I feel like I have lost everything that was attached to Diego along with losing my beloved companion.

Bird Crazy is closed for business as of today ahead of the 15th original scheduled date. There are a few birds left but the majority have been sold. Also the dry goods sold out way ahead of schedule. Please contact them at the above posted address if you have any questions.

Oh this is so very sad! We went in there often and bought all of our seed there. They boarded our birds as well when we went on vacation. Such great people! I will really miss Powder who always cheerfully greeted me at the door. He was such a beautiful and friendly Cockatoo.:orange:

I spoke with my avian vet last week and they said Bird Crazy was open again. Can anyone confirm this? Also, Omars just opened up on Balboa Ave in San Diego.

Yes, what was once Bird Crazy is now called Birdsmart here is the link to their site:

birdsmart

I go here all the time, my daughter is in love with a too they have here named Dakota. Nice bunch of people. I also like another bird store called "our feathered friends" also here in San Diego. I will have to check Omar's. thx

There's also 'A Bird's Haven' up in Escondido. It's affiliated with Our Feathered Friends. We love to go to the Farmer's Market on Tuesdays and then drop into their store to have a look around. That's how our new baby Pineapple GCC had an opportunity to pick us this week!

Awwww you got your GCC at Bird Haven? I haven't been there yet, but I get my food at Our Feathered Friends. They are the most reasonable for Harrison's.

We did! I need to stay out of that aviary, because it's a very dangerous place to visit! :p

I agree. Harrison's and the Nature's Best millet sprays are very reasonable there.

I just got to go to our feathered friends. ..I spent four hours in that store hanging out with all the birds...the people who work there are soo nice too. I didn't even get to walk through the entire store because I was having so much fun! I havent gone to the others near there, but I plan to!

I go to the Escondido store quite a bit. Sometimes I even purchase things! Most times I love on the birds and try to keep people and kids from terrorizing them.
