oh my! there has been a confirmed sighting of Bette (my lost IRN) today. she has been missing for 21 days now and this is for real.
they even sent me a pic of her feeding in their feeder with a bunch of sparrows. i am glad she has learned to find food. i was so worried she would starve to death. i will go there tomorrow and maybe she will come to me. i sure hope she hasn't forgotten me or who she is.
i will be taking a cage, a nut jar and a net. plus lots of prayers.....
wish me luck!!

That's wonderful news she has been seen! You have my prayers and best thoughts for getting her back safely! :) Can you imagine the surprise of looking out at your birdfeeder and seeing a much larger yellow bird amongst the sparrows?!

Good luck. I have my fingers crossed that all goes well. Keep us posted.

fingers crossed!! X and thank the family for alerting you! and letting you try to get her back (from me, lol when i read what i put it read wrong)

well it seems to be a false alarm. i got a call at 730 this am from the person saying it was flying around so away i went. only thing i saw was a small yellow parakeet in a tree. no Bette. the pic that the guy sent me of the bird he saw in his feeder sure looked like her, but the head was not in the pic, just the bright yellow wings and long tail. i told the guyif there is any green on it then its not my bird. i could not see green in the photo but i saw green on the keet. i will try to post the pic he sent me.........

Praying hard!

Are you sure there couldn't be 2 yellow lost birds. That looks too large for a 'keet. Good luck.

I think it is worth going and calling at her, just in case. That bird in the picture looks too big to be a parakeet.

Keep your hopes up...speaking from experience of losing my Kakariki Tiki ..My kids left the back door wide open this one day, not realising Tiki was free ranging around the house...to my despair when I noticed the door open, & no sign of Tiki I knew he had gone...posted a missing ad on my facebook page with a photo of him...& about a week & a half later, got a call saying someone found an unusual parrot in their backyard, around the area that i lived in, captured him, & handed him into a local wildlife rescue organisation....LUCKILY one of my husbands friends, happened to be in this wildlife organisation, saw my photo of tiki on FB & contacted us as to where, we can pick up our cheeky Tiki...we were reunited with him about 2 days later after his rescue as he was recooperating at a carers house....I honestly never thought we'd see him again...pictured him dying alone in the wild...never finding a mate, or a warm place to sleep...or someone else keeping him....not nice to think, but we were lucky...so please keep positive, I wish you all the best in getting you beautiful Bette back....& check out that bird...it could be her!!...hugs xx

i am so glad you got your bird back! i pray i will get my miracle too and someone will find Bette. she should be so easy to see in a tree, or rooftop.
i still have hope even though there are a lot of cats around here. she would be easy prey for them as she had no fear of my dogs.
i don't want to think of it.
i miss her everyday, she was my dream bird and we were really forming a strong bond when it happened. she was flying to me and landing on my head or shoulder to be close to me. sadly i was at the door when she came to me for the last time. i couldn't react fast enough and she was gone :(

Marnie, I live a little over two hours away from you, but I still keep an eye out for yellow in the sky. I figure birds can fly pretty far, so it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out. I really hope you find her! :)

I agree that the yellow bird in the picture looks like the tail is way too long to belong to a parakeet. I hope you find her!

Well, I wish you luck an keep you an your baby in our prayers. I hope she finds her way home soon.
