We finally got a place, and now I am wondering what the best way is to move Roxy in? Of course, I am not moving her in until we are completely done painting and cleaning, and there are no smells. I don't want to stress her out. What should we do? I feel like she already knows something is up because she has been extra cranky for the past few day!

I dont think that will be a problem byt maby you shoul let hear stay in the cage until you can see that she is "use" to the new house

The devil in me had to do it. hahahahahaha.

But seriously, I would think the major issue would be to get her cage set up first and foremost. What i have found is that as long as the birds cages haven't changed, they are pretty adaptable. I think you will be surprised at how quickly they adapt to their new digs.

Ok, thanks. You know what stinks. We just found a mold problem in the bathroom. (Roxy is not moved in yet.) And now I don't want to move Roxy in until the landlord fixes the problem. I mean who knows what kind of chemicals they will use to kill the mold, right? The landlord is not available until next weekend, so Roxy has to continue staying at my parents house until then. :(

When I got my place I cleaned it completely, aired it out for 2 days with assistance from a HEPA air filter, then let Lucy play around on the bed while I set up her cage! She settled right in and took to exploring around the apartment for the first week :)

As for Bleu, since he's a rehome, I let him explore his own way around while I cleaned and assembled his cage. I let him explore wherever he wanted since it's his new home. He made it all the way to the living room before flying back to me in the bedroom :) He does quite well now

Yes, don not bring him home until they get the mold problem staightened out. Do they know what kind of mold it is? Some mold sporse are not good for humans either.

Leave her cage the way it is, don't change a thing. Make sure you use low voc paint! She will adjust just fine! Of course get rid of the mold problem first. :)

We have no idea what kind of mold it is...it doesn't look like black mold though. It's light in color. I am actually allergic to mold, so it is important that we get rid of it. I am just afraid that once they cut out the dry wall that they will find a whole lot more, and then we're screwed!
