I was wondering what ya'll suggest for starter toys for my new addition.
And where is a good place online to get toys.

I did pick up a couple of toys.

My breeder suggested I get a bouncy rope... I went to petco and pet smart and they did not know what a bouncy rope was.

Hey there cowtown. I've botten off of drsfostersmith.com but after a Aggies Daddy told me that birds love the cheap kind of homemade toys i've cut down on my list to buy there. You can still check the website out but i'd advise using toilet paper rolls, popsickle sticks, toilet paper, paper, and all those other shreadable things that are in everyones homes. Heck even I notice that my parrotlet never touched the expensive toy's I bought him so why waste my money? With these things you can experiment and not have to worry about wasting money if your parrot dosn't like it. :D Hope this helps.

Little plastic golf balls. Buy them at the dollar store. The toys Buddy likes best are the cheap ones. Right now, it's a black plastic piece that I have no idea what it's for. I just found it in a drawer. lol
I went to the hobby shop and bought balsa wood. He love it! Maybe as he gets older he'll like the store bought ones, but not right now.

I bought a couple toys off this website. She makes her toys by hand and they are all natural and my bird seems to like them. TLC PARROT TOYS

That's if you don't want to make toys.

Hi Mike, I've always refered to them as "Boings" might try looking on the net for them under that name, as far as toys go, keep an eye out for bird shows and bird expos in your area, you can save alot of money there compaired to pet store prices, you can also make your own and save that way, there have been a lot of threads on that topic.....;)

: As a side note, try and stay away from toys that are constructed using cotton rope, they are a BIG hazard when it comes to getting your fids feet stuck or worse strangulation....

You can also try the little beads on string. Oscar loves the beads (they are Cockatiel toys) I ended up making toys for Oscar by buying beads from a craft store and buying cotton string. It is really cheap and keeps him pacified.

Windy City Parrot has good toys at good prices. Also check out the baby toys at any discount store. They're safe for parrots at much less expensive than at pet stores. And wiffle balls.

Also, get door shims from Home Depot or Lowes. They made of safe, untreated pine and a good "texture" for destructo birds. They're also only about $2 for a package of 20. We leave them in the plastic package, then drill holes in each end and saw them in half. We can string them for hanging toys or just hand them to our birds with on their play perches.

Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.... I know I have have a great place to come and get all my questions answered.

Abby was suppose to be here today at 5 pm, but due to a personal issue the breeder can't send her until tomorrow. :02:

But waiting another day is ok.

Thank again to all.

Oh dear another day of waiting, only one more sleep

I know how you are feeling, I had to wait 2 weeks longer for my AG Mishka.
I just took a picture of "toys" which :white1: plays with.
The cost me absolutely nothing A empty Coco Pops box, which she loves shredding. Tops from various items, which we no longer use.
Ping pong balls, an empty toilet roll. The list could go on an on, raid your kitchen, bedroom even the garage, you will be amazed what items your bird could play with.

Thank you Antoinette, great ideas... I guess our feathered kids are like human kids... buy them a great toy and they would rather play with the box it came in... LOL :).

Yes ma'am another sleepless night waiting on Abby.
I am off work for a couple of weeks re cupping from a bout of pancreatic flair up.... it is heck getting old... sure takes longer to heal.
So I will have some time to spoil Abby or should I say for her to spoil me... :D
