Work has been crazy and I haven't had time to get creative with parrot toys. Venus has been roaming like crazy and I'm feeling guilty because if I can't keep my eye on her she has to stay in her cage and she gets mad. Well I found a brown paper bag, opened it and showed her, she ran in and hasn't come out yet. She's destroying the bag and will peek out. Yes I'm wondering if it's too much on an invitation to be nesty, but the break for me is awesome!!!

Have you tried/space for a standalone stand? Ones like the one I have have plenty of places to hang toys, and could help keep her busy and contained.

Zilla also LOVES paper bags (as do the cats, so we have parrot vs. cat arguments here) but I've had to take them away because of her hormonal issues this time of year.

Nah.

I've used bags and boxes for years... none of mine have become nesty because of it.

They do, however, tend to do the "THAT'S MINE" thing, and get really wound up. So watch your fingers removing it, or telling them it's time to come out.

The hot ticket is to save broken toy parts, and things of that nature. Crumple up bits of paper. Toss in in a few nutriberries, and those kinds of things. Foot toys. Just random stuff...

THEN WATCH THEM GO NUTS OVER IT!

Poppy loves paper bags, phone books, newspaper, etc, I've had to take them away a couple of times but unless she's really hormonal it doesn't seem to make a difference.

This is her current favorite toy. Not too pretty to look at but we've all enjoyed Poppy's latest obsession.

There's an idea.

A wooden box, with holes in it, and no lid...

Not a nest box. A playpen.

Tusk also likes to play inside used Nutriberry buckets... Again, I just throw a few old foot toys and treats in it, and set it down either on the floor inside his cage, or on top of his cage.

This started with me looking for a box to show her and I threw out all the extra boxes so I'll start saving the, phone books and paper bags. She did some shredding, here's the outcome.

I give Sydney the 12 pack boxes. He crawls in and chews his way out.

They're consistently chewed to bits and I'm always picking up pieces of cardboard, but it's well worth it!

Oh yeah, those are staples around here. I've got two or three of those on playtops. Best birdtoys in the world are the free ones that keep them occupied.

The other hot ticket have been the dollar store baby keys...

Kiwi plays with those things non stop. Sweepea's got some, but they don't last long with her, crunch, crack, snap, drop. Tusk and Lila also have some.

Now she is working on a box tent, lol!

What a cutie Venus is! I'd say so long as it doesn't bring out any 'bad behaviors', it's probably fine to let her play with:)

The only kind of bag Kiwi is ever shown interest in is a bag of chips:rolleyes:
