I want to get my parents a set of non stick pans for Christmas. They insist on using teflon pans! Although they are starting to understand the risk to themselves they have no reason to replace them as my birds live upstairs and insist they are safe because they don't overheat the pans(grrrr we all know better) I was seriously considering the green earth non stick pans, but even though they have amazing reviews many say that over time they loose the non stick feature and become very sticky even with pam. I know that they may become less efficient over time, the teflon pans have as well.

So from your experiences what is the best nonstick cookware that is still excellent after months of use?

Maybe it is just me but the Teflon skillets seem to deteriorate very quickly and the non stick surface peels off (gross). So far I have a better experience with those ceramic skillets. I have a green + life skillet which is the same concept as green earth. But I can not speak for everyone.

You might want to look into hard anodized (sp?) pans. I am not sure if they are safe or not but they are non-stick.

You living upstairs is still dangerous for the birds using Teflon. They still want non-stick? How about CAST IRON?? If you season it, it is non-stick and SAFE!!!! Here you go, a win win for your parents AND your birds!
