Take the time to teach them things IN CONTEXT they will pick it up in context, and use it back with you in context.
My daughter calls me "Dad."
Kiwi picked that up in context. Now she refers to me as "Hey Dad" and says things like "Dad Come here"
Funniest Kiwi-ism so far was a little temper tantrum, she must've picked up elsewhere in context, because I didn't ever use it. I set her down, and started to walk away, and she says "DON'T YOU WALK AWAY FROM ME! YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!" (Obviously someone scolding their kid.)
