Believe it or not.

Take the time to teach them things IN CONTEXT they will pick it up in context, and use it back with you in context.

My daughter calls me "Dad."

Kiwi picked that up in context. Now she refers to me as "Hey Dad" and says things like "Dad Come here"

Funniest Kiwi-ism so far was a little temper tantrum, she must've picked up elsewhere in context, because I didn't ever use it. I set her down, and started to walk away, and she says "DON'T YOU WALK AWAY FROM ME! YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!" (Obviously someone scolding their kid.) :D

I find stuff like this amazing...

One other good example of picking up a phrase in context, and using it appropriately in another context:

I was having one of the worst work days of my life. I came home just devestated, and exhausted. One of those days that just drains the life out of you.

I sat down on the couch. After awhile, Tusk climbed down from his cage and waddled over to me. I picked him up and he sat on my lap and "studied me" the way CAGs do. Then he climbs down my leg and waddles back to his cage, and starts digging around in his food bowl.

I figured, okay, he's not in the mood. I'll go eat now.... but nope! He picks out a cashew, and then waddles back to me wanting to be picked up. Tusk places the cashew in the palm of my hand and then looks me square in the eye and says, "It's okay. You're a good boy."

Then he climbed down and waddled off again, leaving the nut in my hand.
OK, that one made me cry.

I posted this before, but figure I'll share once more.

When my mom was alive, she had a cat..PITA was his name. One afternoon she was in her recliner watching tv and eating lunch. Pita came around and started bugging her..she told the cat " Damn cat! GO!!" A few days later,in comes the cat,and Smokey was on her roof top. Her house sat on the living room floor next to mom's recliner.
Smokes was eye ballin' the cat,as he walked around her house, his tail high in the air.
As Pita came to the front of Smokes house,Smokey leaned out, grabbed a beakfull of tail fur,and yelled out " DAMN CAT!! GO!!!!" I never saw a cat run so fast in my life!
In context? definatley!
