i thought i'd leave nut to bath herself as she seemed to be happy doin it in her water dish, but shes not done it for over a wk! she dont like the spray bottle, so today i tried the sink?? well she kinda stood in it and then flapped off

ideas anyone??

i've also tried trickling water from my fingers, childs watering can, she is either bemused or just takes off in a huff, but i can't seem to get her wet!

Have you tried taking her in the shower with you??? Maybe don't bring her directly in right away but keep her around you while you shower and sing and splash and make it seem like the best darn thing since sliced bread. Perhaps if she sees you having so much fun in the water she will want to join?

Anything that is fun for you, your bird will want to at least try out eventually. Beilana has it right on. Let bird get used to the bathroom, the sound of running wanter and you in there playing around. Some little birds can safely sit on the top of the shower rod or door. Then invest in a shower perch or make one if you are so inclined.

Gracie is the same way. She always gets her front soaked when she bathes in her water dish but her back doesn't get wet at all. I tried putting in her cage a bigger dish for bathing in but she ignores it. I read something a while ago about how senegals in the wild bathe in puddles because it doesn't rain much where they live. This is why they don't like showers. If Gracie is really in need of a bath I will have her watch Nicky bathe in the sink to show her that it is not as scary as she thinks (not quite sure if this actually helps or not lol) and then it'll be her turn. I cup my hand to fill it up with water then I gently pour it on her. I only do it for about a minute because she doesn't like it too much but it gets her feathers nice and pretty again.

Tiki doesn't like the sink either, nor the shower. I have also tried a seperate water bowl in the bottom of his cage, but he ignores nthat as well. But he will bath himself about twice a week in his water bowl. Then just when I think he's done, I will empty his water bowl and put fresh water in it. Then guess what, your right, he goes in for round two and sometimes three. So I have gotten to where I will wait for 30 minutes or so before I change out his water bowl for fresh water.

My bird doesn't mind if I give him a water dish to splash around in, use a spray bottle, or just let him shower in the sink. But, I've come to the conclusion that sometimes he just doesn't want a bath and he'll act completely uninterested in the water.

lol i've tried a shallow dish of water, one that she could fit in, she just ignored it lol maybe when weather warms up here as it is cold, well not cold in the house, but not as warm as what nut would like lol

when she does bath in her water dish she can get herself soaked all over lol

I got Tiki in the sink again this morning and he wasn't particularly thrilled with it. He started flailing around, flapping his wings and trying to scale of the sides of the sink. It made it worse when I dribbled water on his back and head. Lets just say he has been a might miffed at me for the rest of the day and only decided to come out and play this afternoon for a little bit. He's still a tad miffed and lets me know by giving me a little pinch on my hand or arm every now and then.

He likes to do that when he gets that mischevious look in his eye.

lmao mike, same with nut, i hate having a miffed bird!!! :11:

she uses just that little bit more pressure with her beak lol or when perched on my shoulder, digs her claws in a little, sometime she will fly to my shoulder an puff up, PUFF, i can almost hear it and then fly off :63::09:

as for the sink, though she does not mind, she does not like it!!! so i don't like to force her to it any more

well i'm gonna start having a shallow tepid bath an hope she joins me! the shower is also a no-no for now:52:

awww well, i ran a shallow bath, and both me and my son sat with our feet in water, nut watched from my shoulder ;)
so i just instructed my son, to cup water in his hands an wet her while she was perched on me :30::11: water felt a tad cold!! as it ran down my back under my PJ's :11:

but she didn't fly off or run away from the trickled water:) in fact she made a sound like a laugh! so will try this as soon as i can again so she don't forget its fun, she is currently sat preening her self sounding all content, after her treat, no miffed looks or actions from her:greenyellow:

Yay for Nut! Sometimes all it takes is for them seeing us do it.

I know with Chia I eat more healthy than before and I have even eaten harrisons power treats to get her to try them. I also have a lot more steam baths LOL.

Love the pic btw. Wet birds are so hilariously adorable.

Here is a picture or two with Tiki taking his weekend bath this morning in his water bowl.:D I think he likes taking a bath in the water bowl because it makes such a mess from the bottom of the cage to the side table to the floor around his cage, which causes more work for me.
