Bath Issues

My little conure JellyBean will not take a bath in anything but his waterbowl. I have tried putting things in his cage; a mist bath, a pie dish of warm water and nothing!! Is there anything I can do to encourage him to wash elsewhere??

What I did with my conures was took away their water bowl and replaced it with a water bottle. Of course I made sure they knew how to drink from it, but they're smart animals.

Then every day id offer different methods of bathing outside of the cage. Dish of water, running sink with a little standing water, misting, showers with me, whatever they would do. Kiwi bathes in the sink with the tap running slowly and Loki will bathe in a shallow dish of water. Pascal showers when I do with me. Each is different but with time you'll find out what he likes! (Or you can just clean the water 3~ times a day. Whichever works for you!)

Thanks!!! I tried a mist bath this morning - and he actually really enjoyed it!! Maybe it is a case of Right Place Right Time!!

It helps if you get really excited about it with him. So it's fun for you both!
Also many members have had success with running the vacuum while bathing their birds. I've never had to do it but it's worth a shot!

I sometimes take my conures in the shower with me too but how toxic is the shampoo and soap? They usually stand in the corner and never get any on them but you can still smell it.

I use a mist sprayer on Wesley.

I've had birds showering with me for 15+ years, and never had a problem with it.

I've got a mister setting on my hose as well, when they are outside in the tree, I mist them.

OMG am actually going to try and take JellyBean into the shower with me - this could be amazing fun!!! LoL thanks everyone for your help and advice!!!!
