Hi. I've noticed there are bald spots under each of my 10 year old galah's wings.Where the wing attaches to his body.He doesn't seem to be pulling feathers.Any ideas anyone?

Is it the same on both galahs? Does it look like feathers have ever grown there? Could you post some photos, it's hard to guess what's going on without more information?

From my observations, most birds have "thinner" feathering in the "wing pits". I've never seen a bald patch, but I have seen plenty with more down showing up under the wings (none of which were pluckers).

While I do not have a cockatoo, I would like to share with you my similar experience with my Green Cheek. I had my AV examine her and learned that all parrots have bald spots in certain places. She explained that parrots feathers lay in "tracts" that go in different patterns around their body. We usually don't see these bald patches because they are so feathery! Some of the spots she gave as an example are under the wings, down either side of the neck, and usually their upper legs! I searched Tiki and sure enough I was able to find the neck area bald spots too!

I hope this helps to alleviate your concerns :)

Don't have a Galah, but inspected my Goffins and Moluccan. Sure enough they all have regions below the wing-pit that are naturally sparse.

Thanks Guys.Funny thing-in all the years we've had him,I've never noticed the bald spots. But my wife did, mainly when he stretches.Probably normal, but you can't be too careful.
