- Mango the Indian Ringneck and Peach the Cockatiel; Kiwi found a new home
I've read that lutino is a mutation and it's common for them to have a bald spot on the top back part of their head. Mango has had a very small one ever since I got him (same with my lutino Cockatiel).
I noticed yesterday it was about 4x larger. I touched it and felt the pointy bits. This is around the time he usually starts molting, but it is about a month early (although, this will only be the third season I've had him). Maybe the mild short winter and heat waves we've had triggered this now.
He was very reluctant to have a phone over him, even more than a foot away, but I managed to get a pic. I can see pin feathers so I think he's fine. Otherwise, I had him up early while I inspected his cage and the birds for mites. Did not see any signs of them and everything seems normal, quite happy actually. He's now glued to my shoulder grinding away.
