- I now have a young Hahn's macaw. I used to have a Pacific Parrotlet that lived until almost 15. Before that I had a budgie.
Does anyone know if baking soda in homemade birdie cookies is OK if in very small amount? I know all of the other ingredients are fine. They are all cooked and then baked, on the safe food lists, and of course there is zero refined sugars. Only natural sugars within the fruit, etc.
He hasn't eaten one yet. I'm thinking he'll eat max 1/4 cookie per day, if he even likes them (he's a Hahn's, aka mini macaw). That would probably equate to no more than 1/60th or less of a tsp every time he eats it, which would not be every day.
If the baking soda is risky I'll toss them and remake them without it. Just with the smallest possible amt of organic egg, which would be thoroughly baked.
