Bad Attitude.

well all of the sudden Max seems to be mad at me. he was on the sunny,s cage playing the other day and when i went to get him off, he started striking at my hand and was not having any of it. i finely chased him off with the swiffer duster.lol
good tool.so i got him off the floor took him to his cage put him back on it. a while later i decided to get him off the cage and play with him a bit, see if he had cooled off. not he stepped up and then took to the finger and i had to shake him off before he really got into me. after that i put him up for the day.
this morning he seems to be the norm.

ok a week or so back i loaded him in his riding cage, and took him to the aviary for a nail trim and just a general overlook. first nail clip in a year and a half, 3 nails was all that got trimmed he dose real good wearing them off on the perches i have in his house, they had to towel him and while they where trimming his nails he was screaming and not to happy and looking at me the whole time, with that help me look, and i failed to help.
could he be holding that against me now?

he’s not likely having a delayed reaction tot he vet, I wouldn’t worry about that.

Let’s see how he does the rest of today. How old is max? If he’s mature, it could be a mini honrmonal bout. Parker is aggressive when hormonal. Thing though is it’s usually a few day ramp up period, with increased lunging from the play stand at first. No biting at first. Parker randomly lunges occasionally for no reason, so it’s hard to notice this ramp up period at first for what it truly is.

The hot and cold nature is quintessential hormones. However, if this was just an isolated incident and only lasted yesterday, and he’s fine today ALL day he’s probably just being a little pisspot. Parker has some days like this, just being difficult for no reason, but they are often one and done.

It’s one of those things. I actually got bit yesterday for just for putting Parker in his cage. He was PISSED. Never saw that one coming. And that was AFTER I just bragged in another thread about how he’s great with his cage. What a jerk!

Fortunately we were on our way out of the room for 10 minutes so it was perfectly timed for a time out.

Dave the time lines are quite long but probably best to not be in sight when he is having treatment for that reason. You can come in fresh and be his saviour after. Hope he settles down.

He knew you were prepared to start bragging and he cannot allow you to be correct!

Plum, I agree with you on that point of not being in the room for any procedure. It's not nice for them to think you're allowing it to happen and let's be fair it's not nice on us to see it as well and at least directly after could read up on your upset making them upset too

Every now and then, he breaks up with me. Gets mad for no apparent reason and won't come to me, won't call my name, won't even look at me. It can last days or weeks. Then he gets over it and takes me back. Little monster.
I have a pet theory that he has dreams/nightmares, and remembers them, but doesn't know they weren't real, and so... he thinks I tried to eat him, or whatever, and breaks up with me for a while...

guess he just had a bad morning, i have a lot of em.lol been fine since
something about eating, i swear this guy spends hours a day with his head in one dish or another. is this pretty normal with these guys, he loves the veggies and fruit along with the feed i use. everytime i try something new he eats it and seems to enjoy. he can see in the kitchen and hell he is a worst mooch then the dog. i think all the birds are jealous of the dog cause he gets some every night and very seldom do i give them people food.
is his eating normal,and im one of those guys that just ain't going to weigh my
birds, to me Max looks just right size wise, and plenty of pep in his step.

Sorry the only way to know is to weigh and honestly it isnt that bad to get them to do. If Plum will do it for a couple of seeds first thing in the morning yours can LOL. I use a flat digital scale, placed on the table put Plum down and ask for a step up. Place a seed the other side of the table to him and there you are. Practice makes perfect and it can be a bit of a game also. Go on try it! It really is the only way to know how they are doing. I should have started weighing Plum a long time before I did!
