Venus is going to visit the vet today. Her nare is infected again and it spread really quick this time. Her left nare also has a sour odor. I don't know if the vet can get close enough to smell it but it's pretty smelly. No discharge but her nare is huge. My little clingy Velcro Venus has been snuggling with me today so I've been able to really examine her nare. So I'm expecting to hear the word surgery but I'm hoping for today's visit it will be antibiotics we can start with. Here's a picture of her little nose.

Poor baby. I'm glad you'll be with her. That must mean EVERYTHING to a parrot like Venus.

Oh dis poor baby! But you're doing the right thing getting her examined, and the right meds or surgery. You is a good momma!

Oh my Tracey..poor Venus, one of her noses ;) looks all puffed up,the poor girl  She certainly is beautiful though.

Oh no, you have both been through so much. Hopefully it is something that can be sorted with some antibiotics. Hmmm getting in close to smell Venus's nare, not something I would recommend for your vet based on Venus's reputation...ouch:D

Oh yes her reputation proceeds her but as mean as she can be she can be so sweet too. She's back on antibiotics and a follow up in 2 weeks. She was only in her travel cage for the rides, the rest of the time at the vets she was on my shoulder the entire time. And as always a kid saw her and just reached up to pet her. Venus was good but we got to do show and tell with a few kids there. I love seeing kids light up and smile.

Yes, of cause just joking, I have seen the sweet side of her in your posts too. Good to hear she is getting some quality shoulder time.

Our nieces and nephews love to see Gizmo and Pebble, and Pebbles is very accepting of inexperienced players:D, so she often becomes the eclectus ambassador:)

Oh, no! Poor Venus! Great that you were on top of things, Trace!

You mention the possibility of surgery. Why did you suspect that? Catch me up again, please. Had your vet uncovered a cause for why her left are is always exposed? Is this situation related?

Last time we saw the vet he said next step he would recommend surgery. She's so tiny it freaks me out to what surgery would entail for her. Last night Husband and I were talking about this and he made an observation, this flares up this time each year, then calms down after treatment. Reading up on nare infections we found some interesting things like weather related changes causing issues. We are still reading up, but we live in Texas where the weather at this time of year is erratic like 23 F one day and 80 F the next day. Not saying it's related but we are digging.

And as for Husband and his pic with Venus, lol!!! Last night Venus was sitting on the arm of my chair with me. Husband came over to grab a cable, bent over to reach it and he realized his face was next to Venus and he says, "OMG my face is next to Venus!" And he jumps back. She just sat there blinking at him like what? I couldn't stop laughing lol. He is always on beak alert lol.
