Hi everyone!! Hope you are enjoying fall... I personally am so happy to be done with the horrible hot weather we had this summer...

So back from our vacation, tho not as planned... We had planned a cruise last year, everyone was going, was a bunch of us from the shelter - 8 people total booked... Hurricane Matthew decided the cruise to the Caribbean was not meant to be, due to the weather, the cruise was changed to go north to Canada. The 6 others all cancelled, but Byron and I still went. We love Canada and have done that cruise several times, and honestly, for us, we were thankful that we were in a position to be able to go on a cruise versus the people that had their lives devastated by Matthew. So, feeling fortunate, we still went on the cruise - be thankful for what you have right!!??

We had a great time, hard to not have fun when you're on a cruise. Victoria stayed home and took care of birds and critters. Max was not a good boy for her while I was gone, he apparently was a full blown turd the whole time. So when we got home, Byron had the video camera going from the moment we opened the front door. Max immediately started screaming like a crazy bird, but video of his reaction once I picked him up... just a great video and proof that a shelter / adopted bird will bond / connect with you if you let the bird pick you. Had to share... so often people have the opinion that a shelter or adopted bird is damaged or can never bond to a new family. But here is Max showing how happy he is to see his momma come home

And even at sea, we had to take care of the birds!! We found a couple birds must have been hanging out on the ship when we left port, so we had a little one with us at sea. So, tho I'm sure crew would not have approved, we were feeding this little guy. Got a few photos of him hanging out on our balcony!

Pic what is a new tradition - AHW at sea I take at least one photo on the cruise wearing an AHW shirt. I know, I'm a dork!! Think that's bad you should see some of the goofy video of me playing with the GoPro in the hot tub. Admit, part of me is still a kid!!

I hope everyone is doing well and missed you guys!!! Promise I'll be around more!! Will be busy, I am late putting together the fall fundraiser auction for the shelter, which we desperately need to do with the construction of the new addition for the rescue!

Photobucket is down right now, so uploaded the pics, hopefully they come out okay!

Hugs to everyone and happy fall!!!

Hugs to you, Jen! I'm glad to see you back but so glad you enjoyed the cruise! I'm not at all surprised you bonded with the winged creature on the ship! Lovely photos and your AHW shirt would be appropriate anywhere!

Been a Great White North person all my life and given a choice, I would have gone up the Canadian shoreline, without question.

Love you part regarding Shelter / Adopted Parrots Bond so very deeply, if you let them pick you!

Great Video! Welcome Back!

:confused:Vacation? What's that?! Lol. Glad you had fun and stayed safe. I bet heading up north this time of year was beautiful with all the fall foliage.

Welcome back from a well deserve vacation. What kind of auction is it? Do you need items?

Jen, I have been avidly following your adventure on FB and have so enjoyed living vicariously through you! I sure have missed you here, though, and am glad you're back:)
The video of Max is wonderful:) He is so happy to see his Mama!

Great Video! Welcome Back!

We actually have done the New England / Canadian cruise 3 times now... we absolutely love it. But, Grand Turk is on my bucket list, and I had been watching for a great deal on that cruise for years now, so jumped when there was a special, then it just snowballed into a group event :) I will post some videos and pics of Bay of Fundy and Peggy's Cove, two incredibly gorgeous locations. And we took my husband's GoPro, so had some amazing video of tidal pools as well as the waves at Peggy's Cove!

Living in PA we are lucky to have beautiful foliage... some areas were beautiful but apparently the heat wave that kicked our butts also impacted a good part of where we went and some areas it was so hot and dry, not as colorful a fall as usual. But still beautiful country!

Its a fundraiser for the shelter, I will PM you so I don't post anything that gets me in trouble :)

How did you like the stoner pics!? I love having pics taken on the cruise, but those two were absolutely horrible, so bad I had to post them... thankfully I can laugh at myself :)

Welcome back, Jen! Nice to disallow weather from putting a damper on your fun.

What an awesome greeting by Max. He really missed you!!

Love it! It's amazing how strongly they bond with us and love us. I'm glad you and Byron were able to enjoy your vacation despite the change in destination.
