Baby sun conure sleeping behavior. NORMAL?

Hello fellow conure lovers! I have an 8 weeks old baby sun conure that I've had with me for almost a week now. She's constantly chirping, flapping her wings, & bobbing her head even after I've fed her. She continues to do this when she's falling asleep... is it normal? She'll close her eyes but then within a few seconds again she'll wake up & start chirping. It goes on like a cycle until she's fully sound asleep. Can anyone please explain this to me? Anything I should be worried about?

Welcome to the forums & congrats on your new feathered friend.....

Sounds like normal behavior for a young bird that is hoping to get an answer from its missing clutch mates/siblings.....the wing flapping & head bobbing are begging signs, do you know how long it had been weaned before you picked it up...some birds get to feeling lonely & even revert back to wanting/needing to be fed formula again.....often by chicks that were not abundance weaned (weaned when the breeder wanted it weaned instead of when the chick is ready to eat on its own.....

Thank you for the info!! It was just her and another sibling when they first got her in. I felt bad taking her away from her family member but one was all I could afford lol. Anyways, we paid for her but the pet shop kept her with them for the first week and I've been going there everyday to watch them hand feed her 2x/day. Not sure how much cc's cause they said just stop until her crop is full. Since then I've been feeding her 2x/day but her vet said to try for 3x/day instead since she's still growing. She just started munching on Harrison's pellets about 2 days ago and she gets a bit of that between feedings. Is it too early to start her on fruits & veggies, weco? I tried giving her little pieces but she doesn't seem to care for them... she turns away and goes for the pellets instead.

Try eating with/in front of her those things you want her to eat.....unless they've eaten it before or have seen their flock mates eating a particular food our feathered friends don't know its food, though they may figure it out by taste testing if it's within their reach.....

She was probably weaned to the pellets but not the fruits & veggies you're trying to get her to eat.....be sure to do a lot of oohs & ahhs about the the new foods while you make a big production of eating them.....unless she's some kind of conure I've never met, this type of food interaction has worked for me.....

if i'm giving maya my 8 year old b&g scritches and lovings, sometimes she'll do that baby wing flap and head bob. still!

i agree with weco 100% about eating in front of your baby, and making a big deal with Ohhh!! yummmmmm!!!! etc while you eat it and offer it to your bird.

If i have a fresh mouth free of germs, i will sometimes offer the bird some food that i have between my lips after they see me eat it..

So i suggest you don't do that because it may be unsafe, but i take that risk if i have a fresh mouth recently brushed. but not too recent.. and definitely not if you smoke or chew tobacco etc.

Aw Maya sounds so loving! lol I'll give it a try! As for toys, is she too young to play with them? I tried playing with her toys in front of her to give her the idea, but I don't know if it's working. Sometimes she'll lunge out at it screeching while trying to bite on it. Is she annoyed from it or is she trying to play with it? lol if I don't wave it around she won't even bother to touch it. I just want to make sure she's entertaining herself while we're not home. I bought a lot, different types, different textures. Should I just let her be with this?
