- Enzo - adopted Female CAG circa 2004. A truly amazing young lady!
Im looking after my son's budgie this weekend. Ive had quite a few budgies in my youth and adored them all, little 'sonny' is so cute and cheerful and an absolute pleasure to have in the flock. Both Sonny and Enzo are currently in the kitchen in their cages and and after 8hrs, Enzo is already copying Sonny's whistles and Sonny is replying. Quite awesome in such a short time.
Enzo was flying around last night, Sonny was a little surprised first flight but she seems to just watch Enzo all of the time. Sonny hasnt been out yet, she is no doubt a little unsure with her unfamiliar surroundings. I thought Enzo would keep away from Sonny's cage, and indeed she did keep away, instead she flew to the cupboard tops and went into demolish everything with my beak mode.
I know CAGs are intelligent and all of that but sitting with both of them its astounding the scale of differences between them. Max my son was giggling saying that if Enzo stuck her foot out, Sonny could probably step up for her lol.
Apart from the shear size difference, its the intelligence, the ability to show emotion, the confidence and the demeanour that is just astounding in Enzo's favour. Sonny however is massively more chilled and quite happy to play with her toys and amuse herself whereas Enzo just wants attention and to be with Max and I all of the time.
I think they are both great birds but I now realise how much more of a commitment in time and effort a CAG is compared to a budgie, no wonder i was a little shell shocked when Enzo first arrived in my home.
Its been an eye opener!
