Hello everyone!
Iā€™m new to this platform but I have an issue that I couldnā€™t find much information on when I searched the web. I recently got a baby lorikeet that is around 8 weeks old from a local breeder. I have some experience hand rearing parrots as I have done it 3 times before, but raising a lorikeet is very new to me. Iā€™ve been feeding him Verse-Laga A19 baby formula as thatā€™s what the breeder recommended, and itā€™s been going well. However, his poops have a very foul, vomit-like smell. As far as I know that is not normal at all. Could this possibly be a lorikeet problem? Iā€™m going to get him a gram stain regardless. But now that Iā€™m weaning him into lorikeet food, maybe this issue will subside.

One if our Moderators @LaManuka has a Lorikeet and should be able to help you but I would make an appointment with an avian vet to address any health issues.

I would definitely get this checked out by an an avian health specialist - our list of avian vets worldwide is linked below in the event that you may need it ...

Avian Vet Resources

Baby parrot poop should not stink, irrespective of the species, and it may be an indicator of some kind of infection, or perhaps an imbalance of gut flora. There are remedies you can try but I would wait to see what your vet says first, because there may be something else going on and some home remedies may interfere with what your vet prescribes.

I wish you and your little one the very best of luck!! šŸ™ šŸ™ šŸ™
