Baby green cheek concern!

I recently brought 5 week old green cheek home to finish hand feeding.
The first few days while he was getting used to his new environment he was very quiet in and outside of his nesting box. He's now 7 weeks, in a large container with a smaller closed warm box inside, and a light that points into the container. He eats approximately every 6 hours. But recently he has been chirping consistently for several minutes at a time. 2 or 3 chirps with small breaks in between
When he hears me enter the room he goes off for a few minutes, or when he's by himself. If I take him out to comfort him he continues, or gets louder then eventually starts shivering so I put him back and he continues. I haven't found a correlation with food, he chirps loud from the moment I take him out to feed him to about several minutes after I put him back.
I just can't tell if this is a phase or I'm doing something wrong!

shouldn't he been weaned already?mine was weaned at 5,5/6 weeks.
Trough her parents still spoiled her after that.
Also they learn to fly at 6 weeks,perhaps he is hinting that it is time.
Green cheeks also are pretty resistant to the cold,so make the temperature colder to your normal living room temp in steps.
The change fro the nice warm lamp to outside the box may be to big for him so suddenly.

The breeder had just told me all conures are different, he didn't take to dry foods as quickly so I didn't want to starve him. He's almost weaned now though, he's eating Cheerios, veggies and a very small amount of formula every 6 hours.
He's not fully feathered but I will definitely try doing some exercises with him.

It's usually best to raise chicks together so that they have the comfort of their siblings. It's possible your new baby is feeling alone and afraid, thus being eager to see you. Of course, if you are feeding a group of babies, they are going to be pretty noisy, begging for food!


Do you have other birds or experience in hand raising prior to this chick?

When I worked for a rescue center I assisted hand raising 2 clutches, but that is it. The only reason I took this baby in was because a breeder needed to leave for a family emergency and I didn't want him selling it to someone who has zero experience. Though I would prefer he had gone with someone with more experience than me.
When I take him out to comfort or play with him he continues to chirp or even get louder. So I'm not sure if that's what he wants

7 weeks is a little young to be weaned, in my opinion. He's probably eating a decent amount of adult food, but he still has a few more weeks of formula left. It sounds like he's just being a baby bird and he's excited to see you. They're all chirpy. That's normal baby behavior.
