My partner's finches seem to have gone into full gear. We've got all kinds of baby finches. Here's the Goldbreasted after being banded.

NNNNAAAAWWW!!!! Aren't they a super cute bundle of preciousness!!! :smile015:

Karen, how tiny are those bands? How hard is it to slip them on?

LOL! I just asked my partner and she says "A" which are the smallest size you can get. I don't know the actual size, but they are teeny tiny. She puts on her reading glasses to do it.

Oh and she says it's not hard, but I couldn't do it.

Aww! Look at that! :)

I'd love to have a finch aviary!
The memories are coming back :D Finches were my start with birds... No forums back then, I learned a lot the hard or unfortunate way :(. I only had modest size flight cages, and the wild caughts were even too spastic to keep in there. I was CRAZY about the beautiful exotic finches! The Gouldians were captive bred and most had little bands.

The parrot finches are the worst about a spazzing out if you get too close, followed by the gouldians. The societies hardly notice us, followed by the owls, goldbreast and lavenders. The cordon bleu and fire finches are somewhere in between and she got some new waxbills that I'm not sure of yet.

My Gouldians were used to humans from the breeder, so they were just as "tame" as Societies or Zebras. I would even be able to catch one with my hand if I was fast enough (if one got out). Maybe Gouldians are just slow? Lol. The cordon bleu pair and Shaftail were okay too.

The various wild caught exotics would spaz out so badly they really needed an aviary. I had to just turn around and sell them soon after getting them. The worst was when I bought a little gold breast waxbill... Is that what the babies are? Tiny size adults with gold/orange breast? I took him home and put him into a (too small) cage with evidently territorial species. He met his death immediately :(. I made MANY newbie mistakes back then and no forums Ohhh!!

Yeah that's what these guys are. They are in with other mild mannered finches.

Awww, darling little fluffballs! There's no way I could put a band on one of those fragile little legs.

Oh my gosh, they are adorable!!!! I also cannot imagine trying to get a band around those tiny legs, even with my reading glasses:) How old are they?

They are just way too precious for words! I didn't band the baby zebras we had, so did not see them when they were this young. I wish I had peeked now!
