Hi, my baby eclectus (6weeks old) has been vomiting/regargurating the last 2 weeks. She is active and eats normal, gaining weight but at random times after meals she regargurates. We do not have a avian vet in my area. What should i do?
Provide her food more often throughout the day but in lesser quantities. This will allow her to burn off the excess food she is definitely eating if she is gaining weight while doing this... Also be cautious of a lot of activity immediately after the feeding.
If the problem persists, I would at least phone a qualified veterinarian (most good ones will take these calls on phone to offer quick advice - or solutions). Definitely is not normal for any bird to be regurgitating regularly, unless it is a mating behavior (Adults) or a bad habit where the little birdy likes to have a "second tasting" LOL
I am giving her approximately 10% of her weight. She is now 270g and giving her 24-26 cc per feeding. I tried decreasing the quantity and increasing the dilution of the formula the last few days without success. Today unfortunately lost 4 grams. I will increase the quantity and decrease the dilution again. Any other advice welcomed. Thank you
way to much if she is six weeks she should be on 8,12 cc every 4 hours, at 8/9 weeksd she will be upto that if you over feed her she will not burn off what is in the crop and she will get very sick very quick
