I'm a sucker. I was dropping my son off to fly back to his marines post and I stopped by the pet store to pick up some more pellets for Chili and I just had to look at parakeets. They had babies who still had purple ceres and sheathed feathers. I felt terrible for them and was going to get one thinking it might help my girls to have a 3rd with them so they don't just concentrate on each other. But I kept going back to the two baby blue's there. They were gorgeous. One was prettier than the other but the uglier(messier feathers) kept staring at me. I think I have another girl. What do you think and what's the color? I just call it and her baby blue. Even her wing markings are baby blue, not black or even grey.
(I decided to clip her wings after playing chase the parakeet all over the house, it's my first clip)

Another girl?
One day I will find my male English budgie but I really need to stay away from pet shops with parakeets in the meanwhile!

I love budgies too!! They are wonderful little birds and can really make "the perfect pet" when time is invested in them. Good luck with "baby blue".

I can't imagine miss Baby Blue being the "uglier" one:eek:! She's beautiful:D Don't know much about budgies, so no advice here, but congrats on your new little friend.

Budgie genetics are crazy, I used to breed Betta's and I think their genetics were easier.. identifying colors sure was. She is a beautiful parakeet. I wouldn't mind if she turned out to be a he though. Her chips are a lot different than skitzo's. She sounds sorta like a squeaky hinge. Maybe I should have named her squeaky lol
