Hi all,
I am new to the forum and we didn't have experience having the big bird.
So 3 weeks ago we got a Blue and Gold Macaw. First 2 weeks were very stressful for the bird, however we did all our best for her to feel welcomed in new home and family .
Since that got her on a healthy diet (we think!) - thanks to this forum!! So we balance veggies, lentils/beans, grains and seeds.
Previous owner said she never flied, however since last week we started training her to fly as she shown a HUGE passion for it!
5 days ago we noticed small pieces of down/fluff at the room she sleeps and since then she has 2-3 feathers lost every day.
We concerned that maybe the change of diet, because previous owner fed seeds mix only OR that is probably the stress or something else. If that is normal, let it be, But... why we didn't have feathers loss on the first 2 weeks?
I attached bird photo, feathers and vane split on the tail feather
Please suggest, any recommendations are highly appreciated!
