Hi,
I joined a few weeks ago and then exams took over my life!
They are over for now (thankfully) so in the lead up to Christmas I should have more time on my hands.
I WILL post photos of Captain Beaky, I just need to figure out how and then I will
Anyway, majorly veering off course!
I am probably going to be getting an aviary for Captain Beaky soon, as I am not a cage fan at all.
It will have to be outdoors, very close to the house though.
For my Christmas present this year I think I will be getting some ready made panels, we already have concrete slabs for flooring and will buy some wood to shelter an area and roofing felt for the top..
I was just wondering if there is anything else in particular that I might need?
Also another big question is the temperature. Beaky is a cockatiel who has spent the past five years in a house, (although he did survive an extremely cold winter in 2012 when we moved into an old cottage with no heating - max temperature in his room was 16 degrees celcius).
I was told by some breeders up the road from us that he should be ok all year round as they just tack some kind of insulating fabric to their aviary walls in winter, I just wanted to see what other people think about this?
He will probably come in at night to begin with as I want to wait until I have a second bird before I leave him out there alone!
Advice would be much appreciated!
