Avian lamp bulbs?

Used is BETTER than new! People are too quick to throw perfectly good stuff out. I hate our landfill situation.

nuts. I would turn those off for good and get a few floor lamps with led bulbs.

Some (quite a few actually) LED bulbs flicker.

This is very interesting and I would like to learn more. The lighting in my apartment is primarily the long industrial bright white bulbs- can't think of the name off hand but long tubes in panels...I often get headaches and Ollie is quite aggressive and wasn't before living here. Maybe the lights are to blame...

Modern fluorescent tubes do not flicker. Old style fluorescent tubes are horrible. An easy way to tell if yours are modern or old is to make a slo motion video of light. Old will flicker when you play back the video . Modern will not. Its been said that slo motion recording is similar to what birds see as far as lighting goes. I make a video of all led bulbs i buy because some will fricker and some wont. I used to have a tv in my bird room for the birds to watch until i discovered its nothing but a flicker to them.

The difference between TV and lights is that TV is supposed to flicker w changing scenes, lighting etc. Plus it's local to an area (unless you have a theater size screen). Lights have a large area effect. The flicker in many brands and types of lights can only be caught on slow motion filming. Humans can usually see it when bulb is wearing out.

Yes you can use your cell phone camera if it has the slo mo option

Thank you! I will see if I can figure out how to make a recording! I really would have a hard time doing things if I can't turn on the overhead lights. My vision isn't great.
