My English Budgie, Arthur is holding his wing funny and not flying, so off to the vet we go this afternoon. Praying it is just a sprain, poor little boy:(

He is eating and drinking just fine, and is playing with a toy right now so that seems promising:) He just won't fly and the wing is hanging a bit lower than the other one.

Oh, no! Sorry to hear that, Terry! But I'm glad his appetite seems to be unaffected. Hopefully that wing is just a little sore or something.

Thank you Stephen, me too:)

Poor Arthur. Hope the wing gets better soon!

Poor baby! I hope all checks out well and he heals quickly. It's great that he's otherwise normal though :) It's great that they don't damper easily!

Thank you April and Chantal! I will update as soon as we get home from the vet:)

Oh no, poor little Arthur. I hope he is back to normal soon. I'll be waiting to hear what the vet says!

ps. Arthur is a cute name for an English Budgie! :) So English!

Thank you, Julie, his buddy is named Merlin..lol:) I was obsessed with that show!

Last month, my Parakeet had a hanging wing and I rushed him to work with me. I was all frantic about tumors, airsac issue, tumors, lacerations, tumors (I think everything has cancer).

Turned out to be a painful pinfeather.

Hopefully your little fella will be fine.

Just got back from the vet, and Arthur has a small swelling at the top of his wing. She thinks that maybe Merlin bit him, or he got his wing caught in something. He is on Metacam for 10 days and then we have to start physio with him (we just have to open and close his wing gently a couple of times a day to keep it from stiffening up. Otherwise he is in perfect health:)
We also took Talli for a beak trim and man, was he mad! But he did well for her and is now falling asleep after his big adventure:)
Thank you for all the well wishes!!!

You're welcome, Terry. I'm just glad it isn't something more serious. How long for his physio?

2 weeks for the physio, unless he stops favoring the wing sooner. If he doesn't get better he goes back to the vet in a little over 3 weeks. He was feeling better though just after what the vet did with moving his wing back and forth, so I am hopeful he will get better soon. He was so easy to give his medicine to tonight!

Poor Arthur has to have physical therapy just like a human :p Hope he heals fast Terry.

So relieved it's nothing serious. :)

I had never heard of physical therapy with birds either. Here's to hoping that he'll be back to normal in no time flat. :)
