Parrots
1 green cheek conure (Kumar)
2 male budgies (Charlie and Diego)
One of my clients brought me this toy macaw yesterday, and my budgies had to investigate immediately. Gadget (the yellow) was downright captivated. Kumar 'aka' "sissy pants" won't go near the thing. Lol I'm chucking it into the outgoing bin. (Doesn't go with my decor)

Why do they always give them chicken feet?!

Lmao! Thanks for sharing before you chucked it in the bin! I agree with Kumar, I wouldn't get near that thing either.

We used to keep something like that down at the rescue, only it had a tape recorder in it.

From time to time we would have someone come in looking for a bird that talked, but wasn't loud, didn't bite, or poop all over the place, and didn't make a mess...

:D

It was something very similar to that I got my kids when they were about 5 & 6 and wanted a BIG bird after my parakeet had passed away.

Didn't any of you have Pete the Repeat Parrot as a kid??

I don't remember that one lol! This one doesn't talk however, but he's very fancy. I haven't thrown him out yet. It would be a shame since he's new. I have some young cousins who I can unload it on. :)

LOL! Gadget has welcomed the newcomer right into the flock, but I bet Kumar is jealous;)

We actually have a similar one, but ours moves and talks. Kiwi likes to preen it:rolleyes: We used ours as a training tool. Mr. Macaw "stepped up" and "got a treat". It helped him get the picture:D

I have a small one in Kumar's toy box which I used to train myself to use the harness quickly and smoothly...it's about the same size as a conure (minus the stubby flipper-wings). It was actually a great tool to help me learn how to put on a harness. Let me find it.....

Found it lol!

Using Mr. Macaw was a cute idea. They definitely get the picture by watching others. Like a chick watching parent birds in the wild.
Griffin taught Raven to try sneaking into the space under the cage grate in the old cage. Raven was too big, but he sure tried it after seeing Griffin be naughty! Then I think Griffin first learned to bite instead of stepping up once he observed Raven doing it. It was NEVER a problem with Griffin until he saw Raven do it! We've mostly nipped it right in the bud though!
