I don't personally have one, but there is a wonderful little black capped conure at the rescue where I volunteer. She is very social and outgoing and loves to hang out with people. In general, I think their personality is pretty similar to green cheeks. Of course, just like any conure, they have the potential to be pretty noisy at times, although not as bad as a sun or nanday.
I wish I had more info to help you out, but hopefully someone else will come along and offer some more advice. I'm pretty sure IcyWolf has a black capped conure. Hopefully she'll read this thread.
Thanks! I met one at a pet store that was beyond adorable and sweet. He was rolling all over the cage and flirting, he was about 6 months. Their colors aren't as flashy as the other GCCs but I liked the look and personality of hime. They wanted $500 for him though. I think I found a breeder about 3 hours away that has them for $200 but also met a closer breeder that will have regular GCCs for $250 in a month or two. So I'm just weighing my options and thinking things over. I already have a cage and tons of toys, perches, food because I went totally overboard with my linnie boys Nice thing about linnies is they don't destroy toys as quickly as many birds.

Yep, we have a black cap, we've been looking for a female forever now but can't seem to find them around here anywhere! They are a lot like green cheeks just a bit smaller. They are said to be quieter than GCC's but I really think it depends on the bird more than anything. Our boy can be a bit nippy at times, like many conures, if you are firm with him and don't give any kind of an inkling that your afraid of him then you're fine, if you flinch in the slightest or are a bit nervous he will light you up
My linnie House thinks he is a conure and is nippy little dude, so I don't think I'd flinch with a small conure My son was eyeing a big old b&g, now that would make me flinch!
