Anyone ever tried this?

I got Pearl a new toy today and of course I broke my steamer by dropping it.There's no way I would out that toy in her cage from a pet store that has birds.So I got my stainless steel pot and filled it half with water.I got it boiling violently and held the toy over it in the steam.Probably better than being heated by metal steamer parts.It worked great has anyone else tried this?

I've always used vinegar & water for cleaning/disinfecting bird related items

I was going to but this is leather:/ I didn't wanna get that wet

all the more reason then, I'd want the vinegar to soak into it all the way then just let it dry in the house somewhere, I would of course rinse it with water after soaking with vinegar. No telling what that leather has absorbed in a pet store.
