There used to be a thread about bird tattoo's on here that someone started a couple of years ago I believe. WOW, that Macaw tat had to have taken many painful hours to do and must have cost quite a sum as well. But the result is gorgeous.

April, your story cracked me up about the "seagull". You know, you can get it lasered off if one day you decided you just couldn't live with it. It is a bit pricey to do, but being such a minimal tattoo, it shouldn't cost too much I wouldn't think.
It's not *that* bad, is really small and because it's on my hip, it doesn't show at all unless I'm wearing a bikini. I don't think the pain of laser treatments is worth having it removed
Not *quite* a parrot, but also not the worst thing that could have happened!
As you can see, they are quite similar. Hollister was really popular when I was in high school, so people actually thought I got a clothing brand tattooed on my body:headwall:
Pinky- that tattoo is amazing! Are you considering getting one like that?
RavensGryf, you have me SO curious now!!! Please, oh please post a photo of yours!!
The man who came to lay our carpet had an interesting tattoo peeking out of the cuff of his shirt. I asked him if it was a Musk Lorikeet and he said yes it was. We got talking and it turns out the man was a parrot fancier all his life and his plan is to cover his entire body with every species of Australian parrot. Needless to say, he did take his shirt off and show me the Palm Cockatoo with wings outstretched across his back. It was surrounded by rainforest foliage and all sorts of the smaller parrots in lifelike poses throughout. Apparently, he had the birds of Western Australia down his left leg and those of South Australia down his right. Queensland and Northern Territory was on his back and NSW/Victoria on his front. 'The rest', he said, 'is a work in progress'.
This was amazing to me. I'm NOT fond of tattoos, either wearing or looking at them, but this guy's tatts were outstandingly beautiful and clearly something which expressed a great love of his. He told me he attended an artist in Sydney's King's Cross and would let no one else touch his skin. The work was just brilliant and the colours true to life as well. I wish I'd thought to ask if I could take photos, but of course I didn't at the time.
If I ever did have a tatt, it would be a very, very small one of a Powerful Owl.
That's a nice piece on someone's leg. So what if somebody wants a smaller tat? She'll suggest you go somewhere else? I'd imagine she's losing a lot of customers, but then with $1200 from enough people who cares!
Witchbaby: I've seen so many 'wing' tattoos that turn out so bad- but yours is really really cool!! I love the shading. (Dragons are probably my favorite thing in the world. If they existed, they'd be right up there with parrots! Hah.)
Thank you! I'm right there with you. I've always adored anything with wings and parrots, dragons, & faeries are at the top of the list. LOVE dragons!
