(I guess I post this here since they're called Lineolated "Parakeets" ??)

As we all know on this forum bird ownership quickly becomes addicting lol.
I'm planning for a few years down the line to get a pair or two of Lineolated Parakeets. Anyone know a breeder in New Jersey or Florida I could get them from? One who has a website I can check out & stuff like that??

I wanna do my (extensive) research like I did before I got my GCC's. I started looking into them a year or more before I ever got Loqui so I'll probably in a year or two be ready to buy.

The little buggers look sooo cute & from what I've read so far seem to be even better behaved than even budgies as a "first time owner" type of bird. & did I mention they're cute??? lol

Also if there are any Linnie owners on this forum can you pleeeaase pretty please tell me about life with your Linnie? Maybe share some pictures :D ??

Now please excuse me while I overdose on Linnie related youtube videos ! lol

-Mel, Loqui, & Lilo/a !

I know a woman that breeds linnies here in pa, she has very nice, healthy birds and many colors. I know it's not jersey, but that's not too far from here depending on what part you're from, if you'd like her info let me know and I can PM you her info. :)

I've never seen one of those!! i jus fell in love haha i was thinking after my budgie i was gonna get a parrotlet for a small bird but now i might get one of these! idk anymore! haha

I love lines I would love to get one also! Sorry I can't be of much help but birds and ways has a list of breeders by state so does bird talk, Also line forums are a great place to learn about them. Let us know if you find one, Im also looking :)

Linnie owner in Pennsylvania, reporting in!

I know of a couple breeders in PA & I am pretty sure there are also breeders in NJ. In fact, I am sure of it. If you are doing Linnie research, you might want to join the Linnie yahoo group and also become a member at the Linnie forum, where there are lots of owners & also some breeders:

Below are my two, which came with the double flight cage I bought for my budgies:

At the moment, they each have 1/2 of the divided cage.

They are great, quiet little birds to have around. And while I ended up with a middle-aged pair of retired breeders, they are pretty attentive & Pete (the green one) has learned a few words. He has a voice like a robot - it is very cute.

P.S. - I occasionally see them come up for adoption on craigslist, so keep an eye out. Also Google hookbills for sale - I am pretty sure I've seen a NJ Linnie breeder advertise there.

Congratulations!

They are VERY easy to live with.

Very cute.

Very worthwhile!

I always keep my eye out for one who might need a new home . . . easier to say I rescued them than, "Honey . . . guess what I bought?"

I have never seen them on Craigslist locally. I actually had never even heard of them till I emailed a local breeder about a parrotlet and she told me about linnies. After researching them I totally fell in love with them and those big eyes! Well after meeting the babies I decided to bring home two instead of the one I had planned on.;) I'm always watching out on craigslist though but they are pretty rare around here.

I have to say i love love love the green linnies. And theblues too. I've decided I'll name one Coby if I end up with a cobalt :p and Kiwi after my first green parakeet if I end up with a green.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while to reply to this (a week off from classes and I slack off on everything lol) I'm glad to hear there are breeders near me. I had to ship my GCC in from NC I didn't wanna ship again. I'll check out that yahoo group as well since there isn't nearly as much info easily available on linnies as there are on green cheeks. They really aren't as popular as they should be.

If when the time comes to buy I'm in FL (planning to move from Jersey in a yr or so) I'm assuming it would be easy to find a breeder there too right? Easier than here?

Gah idk why i do this to myself. I'm all excited for something that's so far off from now..it's like self torture lol

I always liked them , my hubby wanted a Linnie , then we ended up with more keets , the my Yoshi came along :)
The colors of the Linnie's are just spectacular ! Beautiful birds and from what I hear , they can be such sweethearts too .

nothing personal about the above website, and maybe it's just me, but I don't like websites that don't post prices, shipping costs, etc

I'm raising four baby linnie's and 4 adults right now. They are really awesome birds! They are so laid back, will go to pretty much anyone and they NEVER bite. I guess I shouldn't say never, but I have never been bitten by a linnie before. I think they are one of the best birds to start out with because they don't seem to hold the grudges that some other species do.

My linnies bite occasionally but there is usually a pretty good reason and they give plenty of warning. I agree they are incredibly laid back and don't hold a grudge. Very easy little parrots but very cute and playful:)

My linnies wre my 1st birds (the baby budgies arrived shortly thereafter). The linnies are a bonded pair of middle-aged ex-breeders, so don't really need me. Even so, they are very friendly little birds, kind & I would recommend them as 1st birds for adults & any kids who are old enough to handle them gently.

My sole regret - mine are more interested in each other than me. I was planning on getting a single Linnie as a companion bird (figuring when I wasn't around, he or she could talk to the bonded pair). Then the greenwing, the panama & the cockatoo arrived . . . so I'm pretty sure another Linnie is on the 'not right now' list.

But had my husband not wanted a 'big' parrot (and had we not had to add 3 before one chose him over me), I'd have gone for the linnie, I like them so much.

No regrets on the big birds, of course. They're great. But Linnies are special.

I did the same thing, I got two instead of the one I was They are totally sweet and love me but they are more bonded to each other. Linnies do stay nice even when there are two together. I get kisses and they will sit on my shoulder but I can't pet them. I think if there had just be one things would of been different.

I'm excited to get another bird that lives by itself in a seperate cage but can still come out for playtime with the entire flock. Linnies are special little birds though, there is something different about them that is hard to explain:)
