Any insight to macaw wasting disease? (proventricular dilation disease)

hello, in the near future i would really love to get a parrot again and am researching as much as i can on the species im looking in too, but i noticed a lot of those species are prone to macaw wasting disease. I was wondering if someone could educate me on how it is is spread, caught and how it effects the bird.

International contacts, too.
If none are near you, maybe you could call and ask for a recommendation for somebody in your area.
And... sometimes, distant vets will offer brief thoughts or advice...
Or... sometimes I find a place to start just by Googling "avian veterinarian near ((your location))"
Or maybe a local breeder might help... again, maybe Google?
