Ants in my Bird Room

Terro liquid ant bait did the job, no more ants in the bird room!!!! I put one outside too at the point of entry, ants there are all gone too, inside the feeding station was full of ants. I'm gonna keep this stuff in stock from now on.... :)

I also, had ant issues in the bird room this summer, also, the kitchen. Was driving me nuts! I knew I couldn't spray or powder poison in these areas. I was in a hardware store and when I pulled my wallet out, guess what!? Ants!, inside my purse!! I got to talking to the lady at the check out and she highly recommended Terro Drops. It's a poison drop that you put on a small piece of paper (that is supplied with the drops). Amigo has a floor to ceiling cage that's set on a platform, there is space underneath it. I bought the drops and tucked one under the platform that I knew could not be reached by the birds. These squares that the drops are on are no more than 1"x1" square and it drew the ants away from his cage and to that area. It took about 5-6 days before they all disappeared, (they take the juice back to their nest and it does them in) but it works! I also did this for my kitchen ants.

Thank YOU!

I just found them (online) at our Ace Hardware.

We have what look like outdoor ants in a few rooms. I initially found them in my bathroom, which is odd! It was snowing, and I also found one in the widow in my bedroom.
I have since found two under my desk which is where my macaw lives.
it is a mess under there, Lovey drags food and shreds paper under there, and makes a twoell into a soft mass that looks like "bedding" and
she is very happy.
Long story, but she also has a perch in here and a big cage elsewhere.
I vacuum the whole thing out every two weeks, but don't like to disturb her.

Believe it or not windex kills ants safely, without being a threat to the birds.

Believe you me, there is NOTHING I hate more in my area than ants. They are absolutely BRUTAL and my city has them EVERYWHERE. You'll love this... when I divorced 4 years ago, I bought a "fixer-upper" home that was built in the 80s but was not renovated since. I rebuilt the entire house except for a large area in the basement that was finished about 15 years ago and I didn't really need to touch. BUT I did notice that very often against one wall I would find dead ant carcasses along the baseboards and as the weather statred to warm up each winter (like around now) I would get a few ants upstairs in the kitchen/dining area. I would put some stuff down to get rid of them and vacuum the dead ones in the basement.

So fast forward to last winter... it's the dead of winter, freezing outside with a couple of feet of snow and I am cleaning up the basement and I hit the baseboard with the vacuum as I am cleaning up and a couple of ants come out, live ones! So I suck them up and a few more come out... hmmm... suck those guys up and 20 more come out. Now already I hate ants so I start getting a rising feeling of both rage and visions of an ant nest.

I run to the garage, grab a wrecking bar and tear out a chunk of drywall near the bsae of the wall... this is what I find:

I yelled at my wife to get downstairs and she armed with the shop vac and me with the crowbar, I tear out the ENTIRE 30 foot wall and it's nothing but thousands and thousands of ants, there must have been several nests and queens in there and the colony was likely there for YEARS. Now luckily this was the dead of winter so all the nats were huddled at the base of the wall. I simply opened the window and started heaving the chucks of foam, wood and drywall out the basement window in to the yard. By the time I was done, the only area in the house that I didn't need to renovate had been ripped down to the concrete:

I have since rebuilt the basement with special materials that bugs HATE and I spread ant powder all under the new framing in case they get in there again. But finally the house is ant free and I now spray the perimeter yearly.

So yes, ants and I are sworn enemies and I will literally tear my walls apart to destroy them lol!

hello, I've recently incountered this problem. One afternoon I came home and all of a sudden they were everywhere in my den where I keep Elijah my GCC. I went to check on him only to find the ants in his cage as well. I freaked out and started cleaning his cage. I guess my question would be, can they hurt him?

Oh my Malachai hates them....because of his diet his food attracts ants big time. So here comes the ants again this year. I had it pretty bad. So I had to use double Tupperware again with the big Tupperware full of soap water to keep them off the cage. Then use Terro ant bait and bam all gone.
